HELP Please.. I'm going NUTZ.

I live in phoenix az, so I expect to get a rock here and there in my windshield but this is crazy.. Bought my 2010 Rubicon end of February 2010, first week out popped my cherry with first rock, ok SWEET.. Next week got hit with two rocks, now I'm thinking Hmmm ok must be new jeep syndrome. Following week 1 more rock, finally it spider webs time for new windshield. I swear not even 2 days later another F*@king huge rock hits and since then I have 2 more hit. Now I'm replacing my 2nd so called new windshield again. I haven't even had my jeep for 2 months yet. Is there a trick or something I can do to protect my windshield? Rocks are always gonna be hitting me here in Arizona so theres gotta be someway to protect it? HELP PLEASE

2 seconds distance in town and 4 on the highway. at a minimum! that should help. other than that. think you have a run of very bad luck.

x2 on the staying back part...

I had to break myself of that habit when I had my YJ - stopped myself after the second one. It's a good habit to break anyway, since Jeeps aren't quite known for racecar-like stopping power.
Just remember, that windscreen is a flat, forward facing, crack prone rock magnet

Of course, there is always this solution:

Thanks jeepers92 I'm gonna take your advise and try my hardest to keep the distance. But to be honest I don't think I drive to close. But I never really payed to much attention to that probably because when I'm driving my Jeep I'm in a whole other ZONE of enjoyment. Thanks Again

Its the damn flat angle of our windshields. They seem to not deflect anything but take it straight on.I just replaced mine back in february.

... and I was gonna complain about bird poop .. LOL
I swear my windshield is bird poop magnet, it's always in the garage, so it's not where i lived, but mang, every 2 week, the windshield is full of bird poop .. and the weirdest thing is, it's not on the bikini top, it's not on the hood, just the freaking windshield .. I don't get it .. LOL .. i just dont ..

@ Cons Table -- yeah, replacing windshield is one thing, plastic plastic surgery for a new face is an other thing buddy...

Just wear a full face helmet while you're at it

Sorry about the luck! Knock on wood, I've never had any problem. And I'm in Tucson.
With the Tj, maybe cause I'm not around traffic or else in the lead off-road!
With the JK's, I do have a tendancy to stay back and especially watch what and who I'm following! I even went and put flaps on the JK cause I know I'm throwing rocks and for others on the highway, decided to use the flaps. Now going to Moab so have to pull the flaps and step bars off but I do try to consider others and do watch what's in front. Yeah, I probably stay back too far but it's easier when you get older.
Best of luck to ya!

Me too. Where in Jersey? Sometimes distance doesn't help though. I was on a road that was being re-paved. A good distance ahead I saw a dump truck hit a bump and then saw a small "poof". A second later I heard a stone smack my windshield hard. I looked around and to my relief didn't see anything. A couple minutes later I saw the star about an inch from the edge of the windshield. I went to a class place, but they said they couldn't repair it without risking having it run across. This was last summer right after I got it. I thought for sure it would run with the first cold night, but so far so good.

I forget how many windshields I've gone through in the last 5 years. JUST TODAY a car passed me and kicked up a rock that left a small star right in front of me. Whats even worse is when you can see one bounce and take aim right for you! They sell the resin repair kits which help hold things over until the next big rock comes your way. I've done that once or twice and it definitely stopped it from splitting. Its just inevitable.
