Help.... putting soft top partially back??!!??

Ok, so I have a 07 unlimited.... the book and all says you can pull the top back just the 1st portion and strap it down and sort of have a sunroof going on and not have to take the entire top all the way down.

I've tried this a few times, but even after strapping down good, it seems to be too loose and the back sails end up coming undone... so I end up with top completely down anyway...

Am I doing something wrong or just gonna have to tough it? or has anyone else experienced this?
thanks!
Colleen

Hi Colleen,

Welcome to WF if I haven't already said so, I see that you have 6 posts.
Hope you enjoy kicking around here as much as I do. Lots of great people and frendly advice. Even some great debates.

If you're top is opening completely after opening just the sunrider portion then I suspect that the latch that keeps that from happening is not properly secured. When putting the top up from completely down there is a ridge on the plastic door upper that the arm ends ride in and when the arm ends are pushed forward there is a round plastic piece that the latch latches on to. If it is latched, the top should not be able to open all the way with the sunrider open. The velcro straps are used to keep the sunrider from being able to be brought back forward possibly by a stiff gust of wind I'm guessing.

Hope this helps,
jk'n

Also, are you certain yours is a Sunrider-style top? Not all of them have it- Mark W.

This is great, thanks!! will have to check it out.

Problem is, i had an accident and they replaced the top, so I sorta figure I may be screwed....

when I do the partially back part, it seems to go back appropriately...however, it seems to be just loose enough for the back sails to come loose.... I do have to unlatch the latch to get it completely down, so its not blowing down on its own, just not staying very tight.....

Will check it out, appreciate the help!!!

And now that my warranty is out, I'm ready to start playing...haha
