Help - quck question please

Trying to get to the Jack. the panel that fits over it seems to be held on by a small plastic strap underneath towards the driver side. Is this strap meant to be cut off or is there some other way of getting the panel to release? Thanks.

12 Wrangler 2-dr

Strap? There's never been any kind of strap on mine. Don't know if the 4- and 2-dr have the same jack storage, but here's a couple photos of mine. You just lift the plastic trunk storage panel right out, then loosen the extension knob on the jack to get it out.

Hope this helps.

You see on the left side of your first pic, the small box with the U shape? That is where the plastic strap is. Very small, about the size of a small rubber band. It comes up form there and attaches to the underside of the cover. It's strange. Guessing I shud just cut it off...

Where the tie-down loop is? Huh. Like I said, I've never had anything there. My entire cover just lifts off. In fact, in the second photo that's the cover in the background, with the white padding on the underside that fits over the storage compartment.

I had a similar "strap" on one of the seatbelt latches in the backseat. I cut it so i could install one of the carseats. (I know, carseats! Let the ribbing begin.)
I am sure it is something added to maybe keep the lid from coming off in transit.

Mine has a slot in the cover that the loop goes through that hold the cover down...you lift the loop turn it sideways and open the cover.

That's it, thank you! What is the purpose of that? Is it something that should be put back on after I'm done?

Yeah, it's just a spring loaded "FINGER" ring that holds the cover in place-

You should leaveit--

Like ani idiot I didn't bother to remove the little carpet piece or I would have seen the clip coming through the lid

Well the good news is my new wheels and tires are on the jeep photos coming shortly.

Thanks again for the help!
