HELP! Trying to put on the soft top

After a long wait I finally pulled my soft top out of the box I'm about a quarter of the way through and I've come across something odd. I bought the Besttop Supertop NX, it was my impression that it was just like a factory top. There are two bow assemblies that go across the top to support the top when it is up and I have no idea way they are needed. EVERY Jeep I have seen with a soft top didn't have these unsightly bows sticking out of the roll bars. So how bad are they needed? Do people have them and just not use them or is this a feature of the top I bought that was never stated to me?

The Supertop NX is similar to the factory top. The factory top costs quite a bit more. The bows raise the fabric to prevent water from pooling on the top. I kept mine in. I could remove them if I wanted to but I never gave them a thought with the top down. When you install them be careful, the shorter one is for the front.

Ghost,

Those are there to keep water from pooling on the top. They should be pretty simple to take on and off if they bother you. The one on my Trektop stays on just because I'm too lazy to take it off and it's never bothered me before. You porbably can use the top without them, you just might get some water pooling on the top when it rains.

Hope this helps!
