help with tire size please

I have a 07 wrangler x with 245/75/16tires with stock rims. I Want to put 275/70/16 bfg,s on. Would their be any problem with rub? Would like to put spacers on but no lift. Would this work? New to this game.Llooking for advice from the pro's. Thanks.

Yes its only a 31in tall tire and about 10.5in wide, its the same width but shorter than the stock rubicon tires, you'll be fine.

How to read tire size
275 - width in millimeters
70 - ratio sidewall/width so the sidewall is .7 times the width or 70% of the width
16 - wheels diameter

.039 is the conversion from mm to in

so to find out height of the whole setup is 16 + 2 x (275 x 0.7 x .039) = 31.015in

width is just 275 x .039 = 10.7

Keep in mind though that the actually sizes will vary especially when on the vehicle.

x2. If you're adding spacers you can go wider/taller... up to 33"

Can't you just use a tape measure to get the tire size?

Not entirely, because when there is weight on the wheel it will squish on the bottom and will not measure out to the size it claims to be. also I don't have a tapemease that measures in mm...

and as stated above the listed size isn't always accurate.

The tire size is listed on the side of the tire... It'll say something like 255/70/17 or 31x10.5x15.... The first being metric, second English. If you don't want to do the math most tire sites have a calculator to convert it quickly and easily for you. My favorite is 1010TIRES.COM® — Tires and Wheels Absolute Authority.

Remember, tires are measured off the vehicle and the sizes are approximate and are usually rounded up. Most "33's" are really around 32 1/2 or 32 3/4 inches tall. If you want the exact sizes, they can be found on the manufacturer's websites.

Measure against the spare. I do that so I can set my flashpaq accurately.
