Help with Uconnect

Hello all. I am new to the forum after purchasing my 2009 Unlimited Rubicon. So far, I love the vehicle but need some help with Uconnect. I have the RER media center with navigation and Uconnect. I am able to pair my iPhone fine and can hear incoming calls but people cannot hear me. In fact my wife called me earlier and she heard the woman's voice on Uconnect was asking her questions!! Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've never been able to get anyone to hear me on the Uconnect in my wife's Grand Cherokee. They tell me it's like I'm across the room in an echo chamber. I thought it would be different with the Kenwood system I put in my JK, but it too sucks.

There is a list of compatible phones for Uconnect. Also most newer phones have a higher bluetooth software than whats on the mygig system.

I have the iPhone 4. Not sure the phone is the problem. I have also tried using the voice recognition feature for the radio and navigation but no luck. Thanks.

Most of the problems we see is with the software. Just because the phone pairs to uconnect doesn't mean it is totally compatible and that's usually the reason it only partially works. I would check the software on the mygig and see if there is an update. Don't quote me but I think the software is the issue.

I just went into my system and from what I can see the RER did not come with bluetooth. I can't remember if it was 09 or 10 that bluetooth was available as a factory installed option.

Regardless, IMO check the software.

My '09 Rubicon came with the MyGig/Uconnect/Nav system, but I had to purchase a microphone to connect to it, upgrade the software, and enable Uconnect before I could use Uconnect. Before that, when I pressed the Uconnect button it would tell me something like "Uconnect is not installed".

You can purchase a disc to do the update. Not sure of the website.

when ever i get into my jeep my i-phone searches for connect to device, funny thing is i don't have u-connect.

Download the software from here (raw format, use winzip to extract) or here (.iso format, use winrar to extract) and burn it to a CD. Load the CD into your system and follow the prompts.

I had to buy and install the mic myself, doesn't come with the Wrangler.
