Why would someone want 470 hp in a Wrangler ? A lot of HP is not the attribute of a good off roader, and that's what Jeeps were designed for.....not for 0 to 60!

Instead of dropping this big gas guzzling outdated suckers in them, it would make more sense developing a good economical yet torquey diesel mill for it.

Time to come out of the dark ages.

The crazy thing about your link is the portal axles. I just mentioned that on a rubicon thread not to long ago, and said that until Rubys come with portal axles and a high horsepower engine, I couldnt justify buying one because there currant form was only marginally better then a sport and the savings on a sport could result in the owner buying better axles with lockers.....somebody at Jeep must of heard my prayers : D

After paying $23,500 for Portal axles. I don't think I would be worrying about eating at the McD's drive thru.

I can only imagine the price of the Apache Kit, if it includes all the parts listed in the article. Engine, axles, lift kit, half doors, interior, etc..
My guess would be at least $30K-$40K just for the Kit?

It's not a "straight across" conventional type axle.
The differential sits way higher on portals, so you get a lot more clearance. Think Unimog.
Super expensive.
