Hemi swap

Have a 2012 jk sport. I have been looking at doing a hemi swap. However everything i find calls for an auto tranny. Is it not possible to use a manual?

If you have the 20 grand to drop on the swap I would just shell out a little extra for the auto

It isnt the cost. I prefer the manual tranny.

Well i looked up the manual swap, here is a link from a few years back and it doesnt say anything about swapping the tranny so im assuming they used the stock one.
Sneak Peek: AEV JK HEMI with Manual Transmission Conversions and Kits - American Expedition Vehicles - Product Forums

next best bet would be to call AEV and ask them. but yes the manual swap is possible and looks like a whole lot of fun

You will need to swap tannys. Most will recommend NV4500 or Getreg 238. The autos can handle the extra power. But the cost of swapping to auto I think is cheaper than upgrading the manual. I want to do the same and have done a lot of research, but when I pull the trigger, I think I'm going to have to dump the manual. Burnsville it is pretty clear. But AEV requires reading the forum, as soon as they made a manul hemi conversion the posted a reply in a already existing thread.

I don't want to rain on the Hemi Parade (because I'd love to have one), but on a 2012 already?

Burnsville OffRoad in Minn has done 2012's with hemi's and manual tranny. I have a hemi in my 2011 from these guys and it rocks!

I would think the 285 hp in the 2012 would be more than enough for the Jeep. I also have a 300C and while it`s faster than my Jeep it`s not like night and day.

Didn't they just come out with a supercharger for the pentastar? Or at least it'll come soon? That should put out more hp than a 5.7L. Plus it'll cost a lot less

Here is my concern with hemi vs charger. With a hemi conversion, I do normal up keep on the engine and I have faith I could get a lot of miles out of that engine. The charger sure it is cheaper, and can put out good numbers, but I don't see the longevity.

RIPP Guys showed it off with a teaser, then pulled the post.

It's not "ready" as far as I know.

Superchargers are great and all if the engine can handle it; but it's still not the same as a V8, and a lot of people tend to go for the 6.4L these days. I sure would if my engine already had a ton of miles on it.

That's true. I can see the longevity being an issue when you raise compression like that. I wish we could find someone that has 100-150k on their supercharger. Is there a large price difference between the 5.7 and 6.4? It's almost 100 more hp

Crate, for sure.

Burnsville kits

6.4/5.7: 2012 $6900

Quick search for the crate: Mopar Performance P 6.4L 392 Crate Hemi Engine, P5153604 392 Hemi Crate Engine — Carbureted, 540 horsepower, 490 ft.-lbs. torque, P5153605 392 Hemi Crate Engine — SEFI, 525 horsepower, 510 ft.-lbs. torque, P5153603 392 Hemi Long Block Crate Engine

I'm sure if you have Burnsville or AEV do the install at 25k or so they get the engine for a bit cheaper.

From what I can tell, the AEV and Burnsville kits very by ~1500, the engine difference is less. But, if and when I do it, saving for an extra few months might mean the difference of forever pondering the question of what would a little more power do?

I appreciate the links and various opinions. I am currently viewing my options as i am working on (the ultimate jeep) at least as far as i am concerned. It will be a project that will take awhile i am sure. It is my preference to keep the manual tranny. I just enjoy the drive better.
