Hi-Lift Jack. Love/Hate? Where did you mount it? Pics?

Hey Everyone,

I just realized that my stock jack will not accomodate the lifted truck. Im thinking Hi-Lift Extreme 48''.

Who's got one, how do you like it? and how did you mount it? Pics?

Im also thinking of the off road recovery package they sell.

That looks like it's going to end bad if you go another inch or two forwards.

you want a new jack for the garage or for the trail? Trail: hi lift or bottle jack. Garage: floor jack.

Mounted mine on the rear bumper on a Rock Hard JK bumper. Nothing fancy. It is out of the way and out of sight for the most part.

Like it better on the bumper, don't have to lift it so far to get it on and off, don't have to worry about scratching paint or dinging body metal and such. It is mounted horizontal as well so it doesn't stick above the jeep top as I have seen some Hi-lifts do.

I have not used mine but we have used others while out on the trial. One guy had another brand, he tried to save money. Welp, he ended up spending the money twice as his jack failed and failed hard. Upon return to the crib he purchased a Hi-Lift. Watching that other unit fail was something else. Just glad no one got hurt and nothing was damaged.

I've got a floor jack for home, a bottle jack for the road, and a Hi-Lift for emergency trail use. I keep mine under the back seats in my 4-door (48" fits perfectly).

My high lift helped me out plenty of times, I'd get one for sure. I had mine on my hood but it blocked my wiper fluid when i tried to wash the windshield. so now it just get's thrown int he back of the jeep.

I just got one, haven't used it yet, mounted it to my OR-FAB tire carrier. Looks great and matches the color of my fuel cans. I took off the boot/cotter pin and added a few neoprene washers and there is no rattles what so ever. I was kinda surprised on how heavy it is!

I also recommending lubing it since it looks like it might be prone to rusting. I use corrosion x and it is holding up great!

Saw a white TJ yesterday with the jack on the hood. You could see some staining on the hood under the jack.

Woods makes a rear mount that allows the hard top off and on easily. I went through this went and did john bull with a group and saw it on the lead jeep.
It was exactly what I was looking for.

Same here. Mounted on the hood. No pic, but looks the same on my black JK.

I use all of the space I can inside for other needs. Jack will rust a little, but just clean it, lube it with WD40 occasionally, and they're resilient even stored outside in the elements.

Wolf, can you post a pic of the lift under the seats? You just laid it in there? or is it mounted to something?

I figured out how to load my photos to photobucket from my phone, cool.

Not the best pic, but you get the idea.

Short aside, but for my scissor jack, I gorilla glued two pieces of 2x6 together so I have a 4" high square to place under the jack (since I have a lift). Worked great.

PS I have my hilift installed on my rear trailer hitch -- so far clearance has been fine.

Sorry, no pics since I am work and Me, the Forum and Pictures don't play together when I am on my work PC.

It actually helps somewhat. The jack covers about an 8th of the top of the headlight. The light hits the jack and reflects downward and gives more light. Just like if you take a flashlight and point it at the ceiling, the room lights up better than just pointing forward or at the floor.

I had to remove the jack once and the headlights were back to sucking.

Here's mine on the hood. Works great if you don't want to use the windshield sprayer.

How hard is it to remove and replace that thing by yourself without getting it into the hood?
