Personally I would put it rear, if that not an option passanger side or even better inside on the roll bar mount, my buddy @nycgags has the mount in his JKU. I don't have 1 or plan to get 1.
I wanted something different and out of the way. Also figured it would be best to redistribute some weight to different parts of the jeep instead of the back. I know it's not a lot of weight but once the 37s come the tire carrier will be pretty heavy.
Just be aware that the passenger side mount keeps the door from opening when the jack is installed because the jack's tongue extends past the door hinges. Of course if you ride doorless - no problemo...
I disassembled mine, and zip tied the jack body/shaft together with the handle, and then strapped it to the rear roll bar using velcro straps I got from Home Depot ( 1,500 miles on the Jeep, and it hasn't moved or loosened ). Then I just stored the base, and jacking mechanism in a small box I keep in the back with tow straps, jumper cables, etc.
If needed all I would have to do is attach the body/shaft to the base with a single cotter pin, and then slide the jacking mechanism on, and ready to jack...
It's a free option, no one can see it ( unless the top is off ) and it stays out of the elements...
