I have had a 1964 M151 for over 20 years. I also have a 2013 jku. I would never tell the wife but the M151 is more fun on short trips than the new jku. Long trips are a different story.

Very nice.. Both of them..

Been looking for something this might be a good place to ask.. Back in the day 60ish time frame the Jeep and I dont think it was technically Jeep at the time but they made the military version in 4 wheel independent suspension. Only for a very short period of time due to the roll over rate was greatly increased. Anyone have a more precise date or model info? I don't know if it was when Ford was making them the only Ford models I seen had straight axles and the old L head 4 cylinder.

That would be the M-151 that lablover has. They first started coming on line (I believe) in the early 60s and had a production run for nearly 20 years. The last ones were taken out of military service in 1999. You won't see many on the road today because of the independent suspension. It was deemed too dangerous to be sold to the public so they were chopped up or sold to other countries but a few slipped through the crack. They are more rare to see on the road than a WWII Jeep.
