Hitch

So I ordered my 2012 without either hitch package because there was confusion about what each offered, and with a manual transmission there is no tranny cooler to be added. So im wanting to add one and it looks like the rugged ridge one is identical to the Mopar one cept for welded nuts. Are any of the other aftermarket ones better? I'm looking for strength and tucked up tight.

Thanks!
Mike

Check out Amazon. Don't pay over $100.

Draw-tite and Curtis have the highest tow ratings. Should have my Curtis in this week. I'll post some pics once I get it on.

Definitely get one with welded nuts. It makes things a whole lot easier!

My Smittybilt was $60 including all hardware. Now I've just got to get the harness.

I know, I looked it up online. Our Pep Boys here is filled with D-bags that won't let you just get what you need and leave. They are an absolute last resort for me. I'll pay $30 at the dealer before I subject myself to the torture of my local PB's.

Does the dealer to flash your Wrangler for it to work?

I know on some Commanders...if you added your own hitch, you had to take it to the dealer to have them "turn it on" (the lights didn't work).

I picked up a Mopar OEM hitch on eBay for under $100. The build quality compared to the Rugged Ridge/Smittybilt I was originally looking at is definitely superior, albeit this is close to twice the price...but I have peace of mind now.

yes, but they only had one...they took it off a customer's jk when they replaced it with a new bumper with integrated hitch.

No it doesn't need flashed. There is already power running through those wires for brake lights and signals.
