I have a 2009 Jeep Wrangler 2 door with a hitch I want to purchase a bike rack for it can anybody recommend one I know not all of them fit due to the rear tire being in the way .
i ended up with a Thule spare mount bike rack (963)... it bolts through the spare wheel. I am able to still open the rear gate with two bikes still on rack. I didn't want to remove bike and rack to get into rear of the car
I have this one by Thule. I purchased it for my Caravan. It works great on my jeep. It pivots out to allow for the tail gate to open. When I am pulling my Kayaks with this trailer, on the occasion when I may be biking and/or kayaking in the same trip, I use a duplex trailer hitch with the bike rack in the top and the kayak trailer in the bottom. If you got the dollars to afford this one, I can tell you it is effortless to open the tail gate. The bikes swing out and away from the vehicle and then the tail gate can be operated without connecting with the bikes. The entire hitch is beefy and no worries about overloading it. I have had four adult bikes on it and it doesn't grunt or groan under the load. Thule makes an adapter bar that allows female bikes and mountain bikes without the cross bar to fit onto the rack. I consider it to be a great product. I'm very satisfied with it.
Really nice canoe/kayak trailer. What did you pay for this? Like it, but might have to just determine the best way to carry one on the hardtop, I wonder if there is a good roof rack assembly/safari cage for the JK Unlimiteds...
On closer examination of the rack above, I see support members that go from the front bar to the rear bar on both sides. This looks like it would interfere with lowering and raising the top. I think the body armor has the support rails outside the travel area of the top. Here is a link to the body armor picture.
X2 on the north shore racks! I have beat mine up on rocks, even using the rack as an anchor point to pull my buddy out of a mud hole strongest rack I have ever used!
i have a Thule Vertex 4 swing, and it works fine with stock 2013 JKU Sport S rear tire.
Only thing is to be sure it is all the way open before opening tailgate.
