Hitch light work for 3rd light req?

Just finished putting on a 2.5" AEV lift, new Fuel Krank wheels with some 315/70/17 duratrac's on my billet 2013 JKUR. Ended up instead of adding a new rear bumper I went with the TF HD hinge set up but did not want to put the light in the middle of the tire. I was wondering if I put a brake light in the receiver hitch it would meet the requirements for a 3rd brake light?

Hoping to keep from getting stopped,

Thanks for the help

Unfortunately, no. Federal law mandates it to be above the normal 2 brake lights. It's better than nothing, but it won't save you from tickets or possible liability In an accident

Thanks for the info jkjeeper, guess I'll need to figure out other options, may end up having to use the center of the tire after all. I'll keep surfin' the forum for some good ideas
