Hitch mounted bike rack problem

I have a bike rack that uses the receiver but there is a problem. When the rack it blocks the rear door from being able to open. The rack does tilt down but is still a few inches too high for the door to open. Is there an adapter that for the receiver that will drop the rack down or maybe an extension that will get it out far enought to clear? I am think that a drop may be better since I don't want he bike hanging out there too far. Hopefully there is a solution because having no access to the cargo area whent he rack is on is a pain but I don't want to do a spare tire mount since my bike is pretty heavy and I would like the option to care several bikes.

Thanks in advance.

Something like this:

I think they're called "drop receivers"

Drop Receivers at HitchCorner.com
