Hole in my soft top

Hello! I need a little help from fellow wranglers. I own a 2007 Wrangler Unlimited. I live in a high rise. Some idiot thought it was ok/cool to throw a lit cigarette and gum on my car while it was parked. The cig burned a hole through my soft top. The dealer quoted me a $900 (Insurance comp deductible is $500) to get a new top. I don't want to spend that until I have a home with a garage where none can mess with it again.

Anyone have any ideas on how to plug the hole without it looking to obvious/tacky? The hole is about the width of a matchstick. Not very big at all. But it'd still leak in water when it rains. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Take it to an upholstery place. I had a monster size rip sewn shut for around 45 bucks. Just have them put the patch on the inside and you won't hardly notice it. This place used black thread and now I can't tell except from the inside.

Honestly, if I were in a pinch, and was a little short of cash, I'd try to get an ironing board and iron outside, and "iron-on" a heavy denim patch.....

Not only do they hold well, but the material should take a good hold, from the patch to the Soft Top material.

I wouldn't call this a long-term fix, but would probably be ok til you can either replace the top, or get it professionally repaired.

My wife has a spare top cloth in black. It has all of the hardware removed. I'm sure she'd be willing to sell it for a lot less than what the dealer wants. If you're interested, I can shoot some pics and talk to her about it.

+1 on the upholstery shop. That's what they do. Then try to find the dude who messed up your top and have him pay for it.

You can also put some water proof decals that matches the color of your soft top... My friend did this once with same case as yours...
