Very nice, and good video and explanation. You sure can't beat the price, and it appears to work well. I enjoy the added storage I get with my Racor, but yours is very nice if that is not needed!

Very nice! As you are raising the top, how many cranks do you do on each corner before moving to the next? How close can you get the top to the garage ceiling? I'll have to get mine within about 3". Have you tried lowering the top to re-install yet? If so, how has that worked out?

It took about 4 cranks per side to get it up and clear. That got me up about 4 inches (perfect clearance) to drive out. It sits about 16" from my ceiling. If I needed to go up higher, it wouldn't be a problem at all but the kids and I can def walk under it and have no problems.
As far as lowering it, I did it yesterday with no problem at all. Just released tr handle first, then the crank goes down an inch. The hardest part is backing it in perfect. Once you get that down you are set.
Again, because the extra strap works as a "sling" you have the freedom to lower the top and push it around with your hands to line up perfect.
I'm pretty darn happy wIth the results. And the price.

Thanks! For 22 bucks I'm going to try your setup and see how well it works for me.

Very cool! I paid about $45 for the materials. Think I paid $30+ for the 8 pulleys alone.

Don't know if I mentioned it or not... The 4 ratchet straps and the 2 boat straps were freebies. So $22 for the lags, eye hooks, 2x4s and washers. Home depot has the ratchets for $10 and you COULD use rope instead of the straps for the slings.
Cheap=good. Especially if it's sound. Just be SURE you lag directly into the joists above and you're set.

Just be sure to measure the hard top distances and double check. I KNOW the studs were 40" apart. See what distances you need the eye hooks to be. Good luck all!
