Hooboy, feelin' that dealer heat.

Dealer called at 3:30pm, "Your Rubicon just rolled off the truck. Wanna come get it tonight?"

"Nah, I won't be home until 5:30 and it's a 20 minute drive down there. And I need a drink. And what about my seat heat and fuel filler door install?"

"Why don't you come in and sign the papers and we'll schedule the install later?"

"Because your 20 miles from here and it's pouring. Why can't I just come in on Friday or Saturday when everything's done? I've already been waiting like seven weeks. Would be nice if I didn't have to come down there twice."

"(Silence)....because it's month end and the last day of our sales contest. Is there any way you can make it?"

"(Silence)....that sounds great for you but what's in it for me? I'd be happy to come down there tonight and help you out but I need a reason to. What about the Tread Lightly discount? How negotiable is that?"

"I don't know anything about it."

"Cool. I'll see you tomorrow or the next day then."

"Okay, bye."

The real reason I didn't go tonight is I don't have the energy to do the kind of walk around that has been preached about on this board. Especially if it's in the dark.

Be sure to tell the sales dude that it's an affiliate code and you have a control number since there are probably several dozens different affiliates out there.

Oops, yeah, ummm, that was total BS. I was fishing at that point.

I just signed up for the membership this morning.

Being lazy about going somewhere is a good negotiating tactic

Smart guy.
I picked mine up at 9 PM and it was raining.
Completely missed an 1" x 1/8" chunk of paint gouged out just above the driver's side brake light assembly. It looked like someone slapped a little touch up paint over it. Did a crappy job too.
I didn't see it until a week later when I was putting on some brush guards.

Think the dealer said he'd have it fixed? Hah! No way.
They probably thought I did it putting on the guards.

It's hard to blame them considering the number of people who probably try to rip them off, but telling someone who didn't lie "no" will make me go to a closer dealer for regular service.

About 1,800, actually!

That's why you need to use the correct title, Chrysler Affiliate Rewards. Not Tread Lightly!

So, do I have a leg to stand on tomorrow when I head into the dealership?

You know, what with my having been a member for all of 12 hours now?

I bluff a mean game, but manana will be put up or shut up.

Your supposed to be a member for 30 days before being eligible, but who's counting? You will need some proof of membership acceptable to your dealer, usually the TL membership number which will be mailed to you the first Friday after you "join" online. That letter will also have TL's company code, which you need to get a control number from the Chrysler Affiliates website:

https://www.chrysleraffiliates.com/l...tPricingLayout

The dealer wants to sell you the Jeep, you'll be able to work something out, even if you have to stall until you get the TL letter...... Good luck!

Phew! I was worried that the TL letter I lost after my order last month had the company code I'd need on it to get a control number from the Chrysler Affiliates program. Fortunately, I have the receipt for that order back at the house.

I like it. I'll practice on the way to the dealer.

Not clear your meaning

You mean you ordered with no deal made?

No PO and deposit?

If so;

1. what if they sell it between the time you come in
2. there are/were rebates up to the end of Feb which you would be entitled to if you had signed within a period of them becoming available.
3. how to ask them to add aftermarket mods if the thing isn't signed off on

Wot you talkin' about Willis???

1.) Ordered 1/10, signed a PO and handed over $1,000
2.) Would love to know what rebates are available besides 0% financing
3.) Was not been able to roll in the aftermarket mods before signing until my American Express became the alpha male at the negotiating table last week.

First thing that came in my head as a salesperson (not cars) were yeah it's the end of the month, I would have told him to forget it too. Wanna really make the salesmen nervous? When looking at jeeps and he says "that ones orange" say stuff like "which one? Dozer or crush?" and bring your creeper along, crawl under it. I love making the salesmen squirm.

Check this thread:

If my understanding is correct, if you sign on a certain date with a deposit, you are entitled to the factory-to-customer rebate, available at that time, or whatever rebate is available at the time of delivery of the vehicle (or upto 14 days thereafter). Which ever is greater (more beneficial). If I am not mistaken there is/was a rebate upto the end of Feb in the US? (there was in Canada).

Gotcha, the configuration preview I received from the dealer in January listed my order a MSRP of $34,820 for which my final price was $32,649 including destination. Is that what you're talking about?

The dealer added $500 which got me to $33,049 out the door.

No, I'm talking now\today -- is there, or was there a discount from Chrysler at the end of February (now) on your end. If there is you're entitled to that when you pick it up (sign off). Your's arrived today or yesterday (end Feb?). If an incentive\rebate (and it should be factory-to-customer, not factory-to-dealer [which the dealer can use themselves and at their discretion pass on to the customer]), is or was available right up to the point of deliver\changing hands, you're entitled to it.

Not sure where you can check as it's a paid for service in Canada, but his 'quasi-insistance' to come in right now to get yours, may be a feeble attempt to cross is t's and dot his i's in this regard (yes I don't trust dealers). Now that you're playing hard ball, you may forfeit (or be unaware) what's entitled to you.

reads like sh!t. ping pat@fields, he's super cool and can probably guide you accordingly.

I had waited 10 weeks for my jeep to come in and got a call at 6pm the night it arrived, from a sales person I had not been dealing with who began asking me a ton of questions regarding whats already occurred. He was filling in for the person I'd been dealing with and had no paperwork, wasn't aware I financed, didn't know I purchased tires, etc. etc.

So I told him I'd come in the next day around 2pm to inspect it and pick it up, initially he didn't want to do it the next day but when I told him it would be a week and a half later if it wasn't tomorrow his tone changed.

That night I received 2 additional calls from this sales person wanting me to find MY copy of the bill and provide him the information. It was at this point I told him that I'd made just spent tens of thousands of dollars with this dealership and that it was not my job to keep track of his records. Now, that may sound prickish but the arrogant tone he had taken with me was unacceptable.

Long story short, my original sales person was there when I picked up the jeep and had everything ready (including tires installed) for when I arrived.

When my dad ordered his 3rd Dodge Viper from the dealer, not to mention multiple work trucks, the dealer pulled the same crap on him. BUT, it was snowing and the dealer said if he doesn't come pick it up today that he was going to sell it to someone else who offered more money. So, my dad got a covered car hauler and picked it up. Not a good idea to drive a brand new 88k, 500 hp car in the snow. After all was said and done he wrote the owner and told him how many vehicles he had bought over the years from them and that they would never get his business again....

I disagree. He missed out on a golden opportunity. He already ordered this Jeep and it's here. Had he picked it up and helped them make their monthly incentive, they would have given him just about anything extra he wanted. Now it's a new month and they aren't nearly as motivated because he is going to pick it up sometime in the next couple of days anyway.

Excellent points all. Thank you for the responses.

Now I'm gonna lace up the 8-ouncers, throw back a quadruple Americano and walk into that dealership like Kwai Chang Caine.

First guy that opens his mouth gets kicked in the forehead as an example to the others. Second guy gets to tell me where my Jeep is.

Peace out.
