Hood blackout decal

I have seen some pictures on here of commando green with the blackout hood decal and I really like it on that color. I think I am ready to give it a try. I know people on here mention pixeldecal.com but I noticed the decal is $69 on that site. eBay has some sellers in the $35 - $50 range that claim to use good materials. I definetly don't want to cheap out if I do this but I don't want to pay double for the same thing either if there is no difference. Does anyone have any suggestions on recommended sellers or what to watch out for?

Thanks in advance.

I bought one on ebay from seller alphavinyldecals. It is of good quality. Even $35 is way over priced but $69 is ridiculous.

I sold these on eBay for $30 for 2 years with zero complaints. I've also put 4 or 5 on my JK in different color combinations. Check out the cost of the oem version! It's over $120! There are different grades of vinyl and different brands. Some are made to be installed wet and some dry. I prefer wet application. Most of the vinyl on eBay is the same quality. You should first look at the sellers recent feedback and see how he handled returns or bad shipments that got damage.

If you or anyone else is in NC, I'll hook you up and install it too!

There's always the carbon fiber look. 3M Di-noc Carbon Fiber Vinyl. I used it on my Challenger hood.

See, that's the thing. I am willing to pay the higher price if I thought I got something of higher value. But I don't want to pay more if it is all the same. That's why I am looking for advise.

What is concerning is that the sellers talk about having the best materials but there doesn't appear to be anything published like a grade or rating system if you know what I mean. I just wish there was a more logical way to make the decision on quality, thickness, etc... A few more people giving out success stories and particular sellers whether it is web or eBay and I will probably get something ordered.

You state that there are different grades and brands but then state everyone on eBay uses the same. Can you clarify that? Is there a specific brand or thickness they use? Are you essentially saying regardless of who it gets ordered from it is the same product with the only difference being how they package it and how they handle customer service?

Well, I hate when a thread never reaches a conclusion so I always try to come back to end one if I start it! I ended up getting a decal off ebay from crawlorado. I think he has a website outside of ebay as well. It was a 3M decal and installed pretty easily. I promised to give myself 2 weeks to make a decision on it before deciding whether to keep it but I think I already have decided I like how it breaks up the commando green color. What do you think?

Why not mask off and plasti dip the hood? If you don't like it, peel it off.

I like the smooth texture of the decal. Plasti-dip was great on the wheels but over a large area like the hood I doubt I could have kept the spray consistent enough to be happy. I am too picky, and I doubt I would have had good edges. The decal is great if you take your time.

I'm afraid of it coming of to easily, sharp open lines come off to easy with plastidip.

I saw this, but I'm contemplating a hood louvre, which only runs for about $40 more ($99)
