On my 2008, the bug deflector was the main cause of hood flutter. I removed it and no more flutter. I'm not convinced it did anything, anyways, but offer the bushes one more thing to get a hold of.

Never have had hood flutter even after removing the air dam and replacing the bumper. Spring still in and stock latches. Been on several long hwy trips with no issues.

Talking

When I first got my jeep I had a continous hood flutter at 75 to 80 mph when bucking a headwind. Other posters on here had already warned me about it, but I was still shocked. I took jimboxes advice and immededitely took my spring out and drove 85 to 90 mph just to check, and no more hood flutter. Now I don't have hood flutter so to speak, but when meeting semi trucks on two lane roads my hood will jump up about 2 inches when you are blasted with that wall of air that encompasses a semi truck and trailer. Not really a big deal, but a design flaw by jeep that has been going on way too long. Their engineers need to spend more time on the wrangler forum and less time on the golf course, or in Vegas on so called business trips. They should contract somebody like JIMBOX, and I bet for about 100K he could solve their hood flutter, overheating trany, and skid bar problems!

I think they've already solved the tranny problem--NEW 5/6 spd auto with the 2012/w O/D, but I'm afraid they will still issue the stupid 3.21/3/73 gears, but we'll have to wait and see if the JKUs can cruise in O/D, without all the downshifting--time will tell-

I think they will have a different setup for the skidplates on AUTO's, cause they're much bigger than the infamous 42RLE, that someof us have !!

Again, time will tell-

Chao
