Hood Latch for Folded Windshield

Does anyone know if the little latch in the center of the hood is strong enough to serve as an attachment point to hold a strap connected to a carried canoe? The canoe would be secured on top with other primary tie downs - and the hood latch would only serve as a tightened back-up point of security.

i would just tie down to the front bumper, if you need another point. i'm sure that thing isn't that strong and if something does happen, you'll just end up bending your hood.

Hmmmm, yeah. Are there decent latch-points under the stock front bumper?

Yes, If you look from the side, there are a few holes between the bumper and the grill that you can attach to.

Any pics? I see a few solid holes in there, but am not sure if they're best.

Buy a hoop add on for your bumper. There ideal for canoes/kayaks etc..

I picked up a pair of these a few weeks back:

Seattle Sports Quick Loops - Pair at REI.com

Haven't had a chance to use them with the kayaks yet, but they're pretty sturdy when positioned near the hinges.

Just lift the hood, feed the webbing through the gap, close hood. Two strong tie-down points.
