Hood lock

I have read all the hood lock threads, but still can't figure it out:

Will the OEM Mopar lock fit a '13 with auto and air con, without interfering with the coolers?

Is it possible to install the Rugged Ridge locking hood latches without them being super tight, or getting a "paint on paint" interface?

Is the Rugged Ridge hood lock (20$) a total POS?

Should I bother locking it at all?

Any help appreciated!

I have the Rugged Ridge locking latches. I didn't tighten them all the way and closed the hood so they "set" in the right position, then tightened. No paint on paint. You can also use some 3m tape with rubber to protect any contact points. Was a good upgrade but not cheap.

I got the mopar one. Just installed it about a month ago. Not cheap but worth it. Fits perfectly in the front grill. Not very noticeable. Well made. Looks as if it should have come stock on the vehicle and on the European wranglers they do. And the best part no extra keys. You use your ignition key.
Only problem is finding a large enough rivet gun to install the 4 mounting rivets. I picked one up at harbor freight for 20 bucks.

You also have the Rampage locking catch set as an option. I went that route because I have the grill mod done and didn't want to mount a lock in the front.

This is just me, but I think it looks awful when people have the grill mod done (any version of it) and then cut away a small portion of the middle slat to fit the Mopar hood lock.

If you plan on doing any sort of grill mod, check into the Rampage locking catch set. They're all metal and very stout. They look super clean IMO. That's just another option for you.
