just wondering why the hood locks for everyone? Doesn't yours have the switch to set the alarm off when the hood is opened?

I'm not familiar with my jeep's factory alarm, i guess i should test to see if it goes off when i lift the hood. Saves me some dough.

I don't think so. I recall somebody talking about this a while ago . . .

My recollection is that there's something about the electronics in the JK's engine compartment that makes it LOOK like you hood is tapped into the alarm, but it's really something else. The hood is NOT tethered to the alarm.

Viper makes an aftermarket mercury tilt switch that will trigger their alarm.

Not sarcasm, and maybe not on your older JK's, but my 2011 Sahara has a hood switch in the driver's corner mounted just above the horn. I replaced my horn over the weekend with a PIAA two tone, and removed the bracket and switch to get easier access to the horn.

x2. I'm pretty sure this is what I was referring to. I don't believe it has a hood alarm. That switch goes to something else.

After I read this thread, I tried it on my 2010 Sahara. Set the alarm, open the hood and.....nothing. Opening the hood does not set off the alarm.

Of course this depends on if I set the alarm correctly in the first place.

Same here, I'm hoping someone will chime in as to how we can set it up for the factory alarm to go off when the hood is lifted open.
