How can I tell if I have the premium soft top?

So, I just got my first Wrangler about a month ago and I love it. (Why didn't i get one sooner?) Anyway, in negotiations between two dealerships (one had a dual top, the other had a hard top), I decided to go with the hard top on the condition that they add the same soft top to make it an "apples to apples" deal. Well, the top finally came in and it's getting installed next week. So my question is, how will I know they gave me the premium top after it's installed? I'd like to take them at their word, but I'm a little wary because they initially said it would take about a week and here I am...5 weeks later...

The easiest way to tell is by looking at the inside of the tops.

The inside of the premium top is jet black and has a diamond pattern (similar to diamond plated flooring). The inside of the standard soft top is a grayish/white with a regular fabric looking pattern.

In the picture below, the standard soft top interior is on the top left and the premium soft top interior is bottom right. I have one of each and took the photos, so it is an accurate and real photo of each.

I got my premium top with the dual top yesterday its seems impossible to get it to reach the front with the back clipped. Also the rear side windows seem way to small I never messed with a 4 door top any tricks to getting it on. I even had the heat on in the jeep for 20 min

Best way to do it is to clip the front (do not close the latches, just get the hooks engaged). Then have a person pull down on the rear corner while you "clip" the back corner. Do one corner at a time. Do all this without the windows installed. I had my 15 year old son hanging off the rear corner to get this done. Don't worry, it won't damage anything. After doing this, close the front latches.

Let it sit in the sun for a while.

Then open the front latches (don't disengage them, just open the latches) and begin installing the windows. Slowly work the zippers until you have all three installed, then close the front latches again.

Best video I've found on how to do this. Jump to the 11 minute mark to see how to clip the rear corners in. In the video, it's their second season with this top, so your new one will be MUCH tighter, but have someone assist as they showed in the video and don't be shy about pulling down on the top.

Thanks Nuke. Dealer installed it today...sure enough it was the standard top. I was able to tell right away. They're now going to, "make it right". Fingers crossed.

how to put up/ take down your soft top

The dealer I bought mine from had their heads up their butt, the saleman had no idea and the saleman that was helping him knew a very little bit more. I figured out how to take it down my self and when I knew rain was coming I asked my neighbor to help me put it back up. We couldnt figure it out, so I went to my standby YOUTUBE, there is a guy who has all kinds of videos about jeep on there. Now after doing it about 5 times, I can put it up by myself in less than 10 minutes, good luck

I thought I got the "premium" top for 1495$ from my dealer but it has the white pattern of the standard. Did they rip me off(made mistake) or is that what a standard top costs? My 13 jkur was hardtop only when I bought it.

I'm sure there's a thread about this somewhere, but what's really the difference between the standard and premium, quality wise?

The standard part# for a 2dr ends in 49, the premium ends in 50. It sounds like they installed the standard.

I checked prices just awhile ago. Standard from dealer $1700. Premium was $3200 Canadian.

Thanks guys. I guess I got standard (I'm happy with it) but the bonehead parts guy called it the premium top. Need to do more research next time as I had no idea there was 2 diff factory tops

Yeah, when I started calling different parts depts around week 3 of my ordeal, they really didn't know the difference and had to check. Best I could gather, mechanically they're the same, the material is the only difference. As for prices, the Mopar site has the MSRP's for the 2dr tops as $1295 and $1895.
