I use Winamp, you can have multiple playlists sync to the USB devices or any phones connected as USB device. And it will write the playlist files to it so the radio can pick the lists up. I'm not an iTunes user so to speak. I used Windows Media Player to sync, but forgot what reason I stopped using that. There should be a bunch of other music player software can do it.

But I prefer if the radio allows me to select by folder because the radio doesn't support Unicode rendering the playlist useless for some files. It can neither display the Unicode text (which is expected in that kind of old LCD display) nor read Unicode file names in the playlist files even I saved the playlist files as UTF-8. The only way I can play files with Unicode filename is by All Song, Artist and Album (it shows as **** so not feasible) or by Genre.

That's the only reason I'm thinking I should upgrade to an aftermarket player.

For those of you with iTunes on MacOS X, i can confirm that PlaylistExport (App Store Link) can export M3U with supported directory structure for UCI 130S/RES to USB (format it as FAT in Disk Utility).

I was looking at doing this through automator (you'd need to normalize the path for each song exported in the iTunes-generated M3U) but this app does it very well. $5 well spent.

Figured I'd add a comment about this. After reading this thread a while ago I downloaded DoubleTwist for my Mac (they make a Windows flavor too) and it works flawlessly with my USB drive and does so for free. It's a bit slow reading the iTunes folder and the USB drive but I've had no issues synching my playlists. Though I did fine that when I wanted to remove some it didn't clean up and was easier to nuke the USB drive and then update. Though the app was developed for Droid users it works equally well for USB drives.
