How high can i go?

I have an 08 X 2dr

How high could I go with out having to replace parts that aren't related to the lift/ suspension?

also what is the gear ratio on this car (6speed man)

Someone may have better info than me but as far as I know the highest you can go is 3.5 or maybe 4" without having to mess with the driveshaft and other parts. You will have either 3.21 or 3.73 gears were also and option that could have been added.

You may be lucky and still have the tag on top of the diff. cover which will tell you. Or give your VIN to the dealer and they can check

You can also sign up and logon to the Owners section of Jeep.com and enter your VIN and be able to look up the build sheet that way.

I believe the general rule of thumb for lifting 2 doors is that anything over about 3" you will probably need to replace driveshafts sooner or later. A pretty common lift size is 2.5"

Most likely you have 3.21 gear ratios. Thats what most came with from the factory if they were a 6speed X or Sahara. That said could be 3.73.

Like said you have about 3" of lift before you replace driveline components. You can do up to, but not over, 1.25" body lift too without having to modify the shift console.

If you throw flat fenders on or chop yours you could easily have enough room for 40's with 4.25" of lift and flatties. I wouldn't recommend that tho cuz then you will also start breaking things

At 70 mph it's the difference between ~2000rpm and ~2300rpm. You'd be fine on 33's, although you'd lose some power, and depending on how light of a tire you get and how much you can deal with power loss, you might be able to go for 35's but you might end up regearing($1500)

A 4 door can get up to a 3.5" usually without issues but a 2dr....no.

3" max and even some have had issues with 3". I have a 3" on mine with no issue. The reason is the 4 dr has a longer driveshaft so it can go a little more before it hits the critical angle.

I probably won't go bigger than 33's. Thinking about just going 32's at the moment so. And the jeep is already slower than all hell so I don't think I want to go any bigger/ heavier on the tires and lose more power.

Ok, so I went 70 to see where I'd be at. I was at 2600 rpm at 70. What does that mean?

Only if you're willing to replace the drive shafts a lot sooner than you would with a 2.5" lift...

No it isn't. Now I say this based on the OP's original post. Of course you can go any height you want if you have the money and replace more then just suspension. Now on a 4dr, you can get by with an extra 1/2" more then a 2dr do to the length of the drive shaft. It takes a little more height to get to the fatal angle.

My guess is 3.73s with little tires. Bigger tires will also lower your engine RPM necessary to travel a particular speed.

I was running ~2500-2600 with 4.10s and stock 255/75s at 70MPH

Switched to 315/70s and the RPM are now in the ~2200-2300 range at 70MPH

Even at 3" of lift in my 2 door I needed adjustable track bars to re-center the axles.

Adjustable lower control arms corrected the twitchy steering and wandering all over the road at highway speeds.

On my second set of stock driveshafts at 50K miles.
