Exclamation how in the world do you get to the egr valve????

alright so my egr valve need to be replaced and its safe to say ive used up all my ideas on how to get to the thing....its tucked just in the perfect stop to be unreachable

so has anyone replaced theirs? howd you reach it???

I took mine to the dealer. You need to remove the wheel and fender flare and go at it from underneath. I chose to pay someone else to do it.

This is starting to sound like a big PITA the dealer wants $400 to replaced it :O....crazy...so I'm thinkin its time to break out the jack

It's even worse if you have an automatice because it's behind the dipstick tube.

I did the egr on my 09 JK two weeks ago. That's the pic I have on my profile. With all the emotional outbursts and trips to the store it was about a 5 hour job to complete. I ground down the face of a curved wrench to get more clearance and ground the shaft to about 3 inches. Mine is an auto too so we pushed the trans pipe back from the top with an I level. The hidden bolt was the most difficult as once it was a bit loose, I did the rest of the turning by hand.

When it was all done I took the old part and hung it on my garage wall. Lol, the girlfriend laughed at that one.
