How is the new Alpine sound vs Infinity?

Anyone with a new 2013 - how is the new Alpine sound over the previous Infinity?

I believe Infinity is made by Alpine, or they are both made by the same manufacturer. I am guessing, the ALPINE name on the "new" stero is a gimmick to make us think it is that much better. It works! I am stoked to have an Alpine system, vs. Infinity... but I am guessing they are very similar.

as long as the speakers are housed in their current plastic, hollow locations... i doubt much variation between the two.. just a guess though

I have a late 2012 (June build date) and the sticker says "Alpine", but the speakers say "Infinity". To me, it's a great sounding system!

Just an update...even though the build sheet says, "Alpine", it's actually the Infinity system. The Infinity system sounds very good!

^This....plus a lack of tweeters and no ability to control the sub output will always leave it somewhat lacking in stock format.

Infinity is a Harmon International division (think JBL, Harmon Kardon, Levicon, Mark Levinson, etc) so not made by Alpine ;-)

With certain types of music I think the Infinity system in the 2012 sounds better and as soon as I have convinced myself I hear something in my 2013 (Alpine) that seems to sounds better- probably sound the same

I had the Infinity in my 2008. IMO...It had much better sound than the Alpine in my '13 does.

I bought my Wrangler Sahara 2013 in May, and my driver side tweeter started to make crackling noises, as if it were blown approximately 3-4 weeks ago. For some reason it is worse at lower volumes. I would like to note that I try and stay in the mid-range of volume, and hardly ever pass the 20 notch. out of whaterver it is...30-35...

I wonder if the dealership will fix it under warranty?

Is it worth it for me to just buy new tweeters?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Alpine

I have a 2013 JKU with the Alpine system. I totally replaced the entire system, including the sub. The only speaker that said Alpine on it was my sub. The rest of the speakers did not have a name on them. Don't know what they were. For those who think the standard system sounds good, more power to you. The first thing my wife said to change when we drove it home, was the stereo system. I am sure glad I changed it. It is 100 times better now.

Did you replace the head unit too or just all the speakers? If only the speakers was it really that much of a difference?

If you want a much better sound you'll need to get a new headunit. I went with JVC and still have the stock speakers and it's incredibly better than stock.

I did not replace the HU. However, I replaced all 6 speakers with 4 ohm high quality speakers, put in a JL sub with a 5 chan amp, and used a PAC and LOC and re-wired everything. I retained all functions that I had before and the sound is fantastic. I even put in a remote control for the sub-woofer. I can now turn up my stereo as loud as I want and the speakers don't clip or blow out, just my ears hurt. If you just replace the HU and not the speakers, you are still left with terrible 2-ohm speakers and a sub you can't control. And yes, it really is a BIG difference. Here is a list of what I put in.

o (2) 6.5” Hybrid Audio Imagine Speakers for Dash 161-2
o (2) 6.5” ARC Audio Speakers for Light Bar XD1602
o (2) Hybrid Audio Tweeters going into Dash Tweeters (from above Hybrid Dash spkr)
o Kenwood 5-Chan Amplifier under Drivers Seat x700-5
o 8” JL Audio Subwoofer 8W1v2
o Stinger 8 GA Pro wiring kit SPK5681R
o Stinger 12’ 4chan RCA SI4412
o PAC RCA Line Level Controller LC1
o AAMP Gold RCA Couplers GRCAS
o PAC 2ch Adj LOC with Auto Remote SOEMT
o PAC 4ch Line Output Converter SOEM4

Yep

I paid just under $1,200 and put it in myself. Most places said they would charge about $250 for the install. I would now gladly have paid for the install since I worked on it for about 8 hours. What took me a while was re-wiring, taking the drivers seat out and putting in the amp. The speakers are water and dust resistant. The dash speakers are rated the number 1 speaker in England. What is cool about the Hybrid speakers is the tweeter comes out from them and you use them for the tweeters on top of your dash. A couple of other people from the forum put in the exact system I have and are totally pleased with it. I can't tell you how good this system is. Even with the top off, I can crank it up and hear it without fear of blowing out my speakers.
