How many miles?

I am new to the Jeep world, and so far I love it. I have a brand new 14 JK Unlimited and I was wondering how many miles you have and how reliable its been for you.

This is mostly a DD but I will occasionally wheel with it. I just love the option of taking the roof and doors off. Never thought I would be so pumped to own something that is not a sports car before, but I really love it so far.

That being said...

How many miles you got?

What do you use it for?

Any major issues?

How long to you plan on having it?

Thanks

I think your questions are going to get a large variety of answers.

15k, everything, no major (some minor), until my next Jeep (come on diesel)

2013 rubicon
Bought to tow behind our motorhome so we would have a fun vehicle along
We are new to jeep too
Plan to keep it for life since it's an extra vehicle
Have about 3000 miles on it
No problems
Wife really loves the vehicle and drives it more than her Lexus which cost almost double

My Jeep is a 2011 with 14,000 miles. It does everything from my daily commute to and from work to some off-road time as well.

I have been in the shop a few times now. I don't consider any of these to be major issues, but I have had two wheel sensors replaced along with the front passenger seat and leaking seals on the soft top. I intend to keep my Jeep for quite a while. I am just getting this one broken in!

07 dd turned weekend warrior. 53k

- oil consumption. No worries for 09 and up
- ball joints = garbage
- tie rod ends
- u-joints and axle seals
- paint issues around hinges = all wranglers if not soon, later.

Other than this small list nothing major.

Nice responses people. I would like to keep mine for the long hall as well and I was just wondering about how many people really plan on driving these things well past 100K.

07 JKU w/123K! I just bought it 3 months ago, it did have the top end of engine rebuilt 1 week before I bought it! 100% original w/zero rust, squeeks or issues! I just put a 4" lift & 35s all around on her.

I had a 11 Rubi that I had to sell 2 yrs ago and the 07 is its replacement.

That is our plan. We have had ours 5 weeks now. It is around 1800 km (1125 miles) already. It is the girlfriends daily driver and she will drive 20 miles to save 25 cents on a pair of pants so it gets driven allot. Her last vehicle has 198,000 km (123,750 miles) and the only reason I made the switch was the cost of maintenance is getting out of control (Chevy Blazer, if you have owned one you know what I mean). That and I have wanted a Jeep since I was a young punk. I will keep the Jeep until it costs too much to keep it too and hopefully by then replace it with a new one.

2012 JKUR

45,000 MILES

Repairs under warranty in the order they occurred:

- belt tensioner (told them it was water pump but its a dealer but they didn't listen)

- dash piece around navigation system (shat warped design)

- water pump to fix the water pump bearings squeak

- rear leather seat cover because the seatbelt design ripped it from folding it down and also took out the seatbelt latch too

- rear seatbelt latches (middle and rear passenger side)

- throw out bearing

- dash bezel piece around Nav unit again (I kept making them change it out to send a message to Chrysler and have multiple records of it so when my window switches go I can make them eat that too (dirt and dust get down there and jam the switches so I have to keep rocking them to get them to operate)

- front leather seat cover tore on the heavy wear resistant vinyl area

- heater core, radiator, and coolant system flush is next

- if I get the cylinder head issue I'm going to put the jeep on cruise control, light it on fire, tuck and roll out of it and send it through the dealers front doors. Lol. Jk. I'm not going to do that. But a guy can't control his dreams at night, but he can share them!

All the above repairs have greatly undermined a genuinely solid, tough, beast of a vehicle

Love the Jeep, hate the fact of all the time I've wasted beta testing Chryslers poor quality components dropping off my Jeep, being without a vehicle, etc. We all know each above repair was a trip in to get it diagnosed, banging your head into the dealers head till the information transfer takes place, then returning to have the parts replaced, then sometimes a return visit on the previous repair to fix what they hacked/jacked up while completing/attempting the initial repair

All the previous Jeeps I've owned have been amazing in regards to component quality

It's sad to see such improvements in ride, handling, available options, only to have so many poor quality parts installed I wish the crew that gave birth to the RUBICON had the final say in parts suppliers and in QA & QQ

Zero problems
I work at home, so can't say daily driver, but when I DO drive, I Drive my JKUR DUNE, wheeling, parades, and any other excuse I can find, even to go get milk.
I plan on having till it's totaled, or I Am.
Have Lifetime Warranty & Lifetime Alignment...somebody gonna loose $$$, but not me!

It's prolly best to park it next to the mach and shelby and never drive it under any circumstances.

2009 JKu
60,500 miles

-sometimes when stopping while running the A/C I get a grinding noise in the engine compartment. As soon as I turn the A/C off it goes away. It's intermittent and I have not yet looked into it.
-Battery randomly died one day last week.
-seems liked Chrysler forgot to install two of the cylinders though (no power)

Mine's a '12 JKUR w/AT. I bought it new in August 2012 and it has been bulletproof since then. I've got 36000 miles on it and the only issue was two O-rings installed on the fuel tank sensor vs the one required and it caused a gauge issue.

I mostly drive back and forth to the airport each week and commute to out-of-state clients when I don't want to fly. It's made several trips to Chicago, FL, OH, east coast, etc. and has seen lots of highway miles. On weeks I'm not working it gets a lot of rural East Tennessee driving and a few trails.

If I can keep it in one piece, I would like it to someday be the old classic Jeep out in the barn that I take on fishing/camping trips... maybe do the Hemi conversion when the 3.6 lets go. But if the next generation has something special to offer I might get another one.

Oh I Drive it - I Drive it a lot. Got it with 3 miles 1 month ago today, now it has 2985. A Jeep parked for more than 8 hours gets very restless!

2014 JKUR about 2 months old. Picked it up with 2 miles. I've added another 5500 since then. No issues to report, and I plan on keeping it until it completely gives in. I took it to Uwharrie and it did just fine through all the trails. Absolutely love it.

DD and weekend warrior trail rig. Only vehicle I own
No issues mechanically. Taillight held water which was fixed under warranty
Plan on keeping it until NY winters eat it away, or a diesel comes out

2012 Sport-S used for work and play, ~28,000 miles. Spends its days on highways fields and ditches for work with only a few casual OR excursions. Comfortable, maneuverable and a lot better on gas than SUVs I used to use for work. Great to have top & doors off on hot days (well, bikini top in place) when covering 100-200 miles. Better vehicle than I imagined it would be.
