How much is too much??

Okay, I have a 2008 JKU that i Purchased as a weekend warrior (all stock). I purchased a set of front and rear Rugged ridge bumpers and decided to install them myself. I noticed thy are "much" heavier than stock and weight has been added. The 35 inch tires and 17 inch wheels are on the way (more weight!) and yes, its getting a 3 inch lift kit. Will this affect the jeep's performance?? Ohh yeah, most of the trails here are mud!!! Am i in trouble!

Everything you are adding is going to affect performance. There are good and bads coming from what your doing. Depends on what's most important to you, this will decide whether or not the bad out weigh the good.

A lot will depend on whether you have a manual or automatic and what gears you have. You will notice the weight, but even more you'll notice the 35's.

"How much is too much?" If you are talking money? There's not such a thing as too much. You can spend on your jeep until you give up! If you are talking weight or tire size? It's nothing that money can't fix.

weight wise I don't think your front and rear bumpers will have that much affect.

Where you will really lose performance is going to the 35's. For daily driving my manual with 3.73's is just fine but on trails it absolutely sucks. The 3.8 really doesn't get any grunt until you hit 1100 rpm from my experience and I hated the 3.73s off-road. After about a year with 3.73's I'm having 4.88 or 5.13's (Still trying to decide) installed tuesday.

I have a manual so I can work that to my advantage with the stock gears but I'm pretty sure auto would be worse.

Thanks for the advice on the gears Rmiller31. I'm sure those gears won run me the $5K I would need to "up" the horse power on that 3.8. Let me know how those gears pan out. BTW, I have a manual.

Nah, not even close to 5k, mine is coming in under 1100 for gears and labor and from others I know that regeared it made a huge difference for them.
