How much vibration is normal?

I have a lifted 08 Jk 2 door with 35s. I Haven't had it long and I don't know what is normal. Every time I get around 70 on the highway it vibrates really bad like a 'pulse' and not continuous. It gets worse as I get moving faster. Is this completely normal? Or does anyone know what this is? Thanks for the help

I'm noticing a little bit of this as well at about 65-70 mph. Steering wheel is not vibrating at all when this happens.

Could be a lot of things. Where do you feel the vibration at? If you feel it around the brake and gas pedal it probably is a drive line vibe. That could be a U joint, wheel bearings, bad pinion angle, bent drive shaft, bad bearings in the diff, yada, yada, yada

If you feel it in the seat, console, and against the doors it probably is a tire balancing issue.

Mine is in the seat/body. No steering wheel vibrations on mine. I'm going to try to check the balance and go ahead and rotate tires while I'm at it.
I installed lift ran for 3 weeks on factory rims and tires with no issues, added bigger wheels and tires----wala, vibrations

I'll post results back if I can get the tires balanced tomorrow.

Thanks guys I will look into options, I'm pretty sure it's a 4in Teraflex lift and I have 35 grabbers with Aev rims. Don't know the exact equipment because previous owner is deceased, and I only have minimal paperwork with some add ons. I really appreciate all the help, any suggestions would be welcomed

Start with Finding and interviewing a Hunter Tech. Make SURE they are well versed on ALL capabilities of the machine and are willing to put it thru the paces and take the time. IF the shop seems unwilling - move on.
It is an absolute step for the Lifted/Large Tire Rig.
It will tell you Everything about the wheels, tires, balance, positioning - IF the Tech is good and they take their time .... IF there is a problem to find that machine will find it.
Good luck

You're not going to believe this. The tire shop where I have bought my tires for the last 9yrs has the Hunter but he couldn't get my order in time and I had to order on line. Guess I'm going back earlier than expected. Didn't have time today but will have to try to get there tomorrow

my 2005 wrangler has the same issues. the thing runs like a dream. no rattles, shakes, or shimmies. but on the freeway, starting at about 60mph, i start to get a rythmic humming. cant pinpoint the source, but as soon as i let off the gas pedal, the humming stops. foot on gas, it starts again. it is not a very loud sound, but once you start hearing it, it drives you crazy! got a long road trip coming up and dont know if i can go 17 hours listening to it! any suggestions?

Go on youtube and search for Planman Jeep. He has two 18-19min videos that break down many parts of the front suspension and give you a very easy to follow step by step of what to look and feel for.

Ok, mine is now about 99% good. Here is what I did today:
1) Took tires off to re balance on Hunter. Came back perfect, no weight added
2) Wheels good, plastic center caps bad! Caps has a 1/4" rolled bead on the inside, they stick through wheel from back to front, bead holds them behind rim. 1/4" bead of hard plastic behind rim would not pull up flush with rotor. 3 of the caps the plastic crushed pretty even, 4th cap crushed uneven causing wheel to not sit flat against rotor. As Keeper mentioned in an earlier post, this was working like the little rotor clips. Removed all center caps.
3) lowered air pressure to 28psi front/26 psi rear.

You know my center caps push through the back like yours with a black o ring and a lip. Im pretty sure I pulled the caps and put the wheels back on and took for a drve with no results. I have not tried this on the second set yet. I always wondered how I was getting a solid fit with those caps as you can definitely tell how solid a contact you get without them.

Spent two hours under the Jeep today on jacks. Looked over everything. Push pulled, torqued and only thing I found was where my front driveshaft goes into the transfer case there is some slight play side to side up and down. Slight meaning 1/8 inch. I can shake it back and fourth with sound. Not sure if that is my problem. The rear shaft has no play at the transfer case connection. Its attached to some sort of harmonic balancer as well.

Forgot to add:
I don't think I can get to 100% due to the km2's. Just slow rolling across very smooth concrete the lugs have a slight bump to them. Highway speeds of 60-mid 70's has no vibrations like before

Maybe I missed it but what size are your KM2s? I run my 35s at 26-28 psi
As far as living with the rumble mine is not too bad. I worried about it until I isolated to the tires but knowing the cause isn't mechanical it's acceptable. I also get the same very low speed rumble on pavement that you describe.

Mine are labeled 35x12.5x17. D rated.... rolling diameter of 33.75. I lowered the air last night to 32 and it felt less bouncy on the road. Felt more rolling resistance but the vibes were still there at 62 and up. I can feel it in the steering wheel. I guess ill keep going south just dont want to sacrafice any more mpgs.
