How not to remove Comfort Top

So I have had my 4 door almost two months and have been dying to get the hard top off, the weather in Ohio has been crap until this week. One of the first things I research is how to remove safely and by yourself as my wife is not much help with these things. I decide the Racor kit is the way to go, order throught the depot a week later it arrives. After figuring out that I will have to do the optional 4x8 (my rafters were the wrong length) and getting my neighbor to help me finish installing the kit is in the ceiling waiting.

I was going to do this weekend but a small family outing picking blueberries took prescedent, I take the day off yesterday to put the wheels in motion..... After realizing that my positioning choice wasn't without challenges I finally get the top off, the result was awesome, but the top was hanging at an akward angle instead of waiting on someone to get home to lend me a hand I try to adjust while the top is still in the air, this is what happens when you release the tension on a 150lbs top 6 feet off the ground... and by the way my head is what broke the glass

By the way anyone have an idea of what the cost to replace the rear glass is?

This is to weird this was me 2 weeks ago. I never even thought of taking any pics. My buddy was looking over and playing with the winch I made to raise the top, he must have left the crank lever in the unlocked position.
Well the dealer was way out there for me they wanted $840.00 installed, I bought the glass and put it in myself. I paid $480.00 for the glass and it took me about 1/2 hour to put it in. It's really easy to put in. The new glass comes with the hinges and the bottom rubber piece

I have done this.. I dropped my hard top off of the back of my Jeep in the garage. Call your insurance company. Some states have a $0 deductible glass replacement. I had my rear glass replaced without the hard top on my jeep for $0. I did look at prices and safelite was around $500 or so installed.

Contacted the insurance the new window is a little over 1k, so I am going to file a claim and pay my deductible.... Since I have both hard and soft tops I am just going to run the soft top for now and fix in a couple of months. Thanks for the replies.

Please allow me to share my method for using the Racor.

I use fixed length straps, routed as shown. It's not held tight to the lifts basket, and I use the crank to raise and lower. It is self centering and well balanced. Plus it's much easier that fishing a hook over the sound bar.

Are they calling it comp or collision?

Are you re-using the rear wiper assembly, specifically the arm part outside the window that the wiper connects to? Mine got ripped off in an automatic car wash... Let me know.
