I turned the key on and off a few times and disengaged the eco on. Now I dont know how to turn it on again. I have the 130 radio so there is no menu on it.

Wait a sec, are you talking about the ECO indicator on your dash? If so It's not something that you can turn off, however it is only visibly when you are in the compass mode and are of-course driving the jeep with a lite foot.

you cant turn on or off eco ... its just an economy saver.. how it works i dont know.. but what the computer does learns your driving habbits and adds in the the way the vehicle is running, and helps try to save on gas...

so to be more specific.... the computer turns it on and off for u.. it just has a display letting u know what its doing..

No,, listen, ,,, when you have eco displayed on the dash, it will fluctuate from "ECO ON" to just plain "ECO" depending on your driving style. I had read somewhere here that you can shut it down by playin with the key, so I DID.
Now it only reads ECO no matter what I do while driving. It never shows "ON" anymore since the moment I did the key thing. Now I want to turn it back on.

If you have the connectivity group, you can turn it off with the EVIC steering wheel buttons. I know because I turned mine off.

The OP, apparently, doesn't have EVIC, but used a 'manual' method to turn it off. If that is the case, he should be able to turn it back on with exactly the same method.

**Note that ECO is nothing more than a display in the speedo of "ECO" when you're driving in a manner conducive to good gas mileage. It doesn't do anything.

EDIT: to use EVIC to turn ECO display off, the ingnition key has to be in the "on" position. It's under "personal settings"

That is absolutely correct. I do not have EVIC so I used the manual method. I realize that is only a display with no function. This is clearly explained in the manual. I just wish that I could find the post that explained that method again. I would like to be able to control that option. I am hoping that someone here knows what to do because I cant get it back on even if I do the same thing with the key.

Lifted this from another forum:

Press the Odometer / Trip Odometer / ECO (Fuel Saver Indicator) button to change the display from odometer to either of the two trip odometer settings or the “ECO” display.

Not completely clear, but I think they are saying you use the trip odo button to toggle the display... ? Worth a try.

Thanks for helping BIll. Unfortunatly that only cycles the display. I dont know what the heck I did. I simply turned the key on and off about 4 times in a row and then started the jeep. From that point on, it never displayed the "ON" again. Now its like an old girlfirend that you broke up with and wish you had back...sort of.

How does your Rubicon not have the EVIC? My base Sport even has it, so I thought it was now standard.

That cycles the display, and that ECO will show up, provided you treat that old girlfriend right; the ECO on should appear if you drive like granny smith (avoid the «floor it Flora» syndrome, and ease up on the lead foot).

I have the same non-EVIC display.

Maybe I'm missing the point (would not be the first time).

Yes indeed that cycles the display and the ECO shows up alright....but IT DOESNT SHOW "ON" anymore no matter how conservatively I drive. It used to show ECO ON about 70% of my granny-driving time. I disengaged it with the key dance but I dont know how to turn it back on! someone here does.

Well guess what? I found out by accident that the ECO ON function is also related to the gas cap sealing function. I have had the check engine light coming on for a few days at a time, everytime I put in gas. The dealer said it is difficult to get it to seal.
Anyhow, the check engine light cleared itself as usual and this time it reset the ECO ON function which started to work immediately.
Makes sense now.

Side related note.....Call it he said she said/ he heard she heard.

Ran the Jk through the car wash/ gas staion as a surprise while she was at work. (took extra set of keys and stole it from the parking spot at her work)

Anyway reset miles/ trip A and B. Drove back dropped it off. She gets home from work and asks why the eco on light is on. I explained it is always on.....if driving well. She said no never been on before. I ask are miles displayed she said yes...on and on. Failure to communicate. Even had her read this thread.

I go get in the JK start it up...yup needed to push the reset one more time to display odometer. She thought I meant the gas mileage since fill-up.

Glad to hear yours is fixed/ figured out.
