Humvee Style Hardtop

Since I'm new here I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section.

I'm looking to get a hardtop before the winter so I've been looking around and I want something different, like the Humvee Style. Any thoughts/opinions?
How hard is it to install these hardtops?

this is the link: Hard Top Slant Back Hardtop Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 07 14 Humvee Style | eBay

Thanks!

Man, I'd tread lightly here.

First off, I'm not sure who makes that top. It looks like a Wild Boar, kinda. Definitely not stock, with the fastback. Which makes me wonder about leak issues...why's he selling it? So he can run a softy year-round?

Alarms are going off all through my head. It's like the Gong Show in here...maybe it's just me.

There are much cheaper ways to get a hummer. Grab a twenty and downtown.

All of that information is in the listing - this guy's a dealer for the OEM, DV8 offroad.

I've never heard of DV8, but there are definitely reviews on some of their other products (bumpers, lightbars) out on the internet. They seem to be a decent company that puts out quality product. According to the website, that top has only been around for the last few months. So... you'd probably be a guinea pig for the forum.

The Wildboar fastback top got mixed to negative reviews due to leak issues. The fact that the top is about a grand cheaper than the Wildboar one makes me go "ehhh" but price doesn't always equal quality.

From the listing, it looks pretty solid. Doesn't have rain gutters, but the edges stick out past the doors a little. I'd love to see pictures of the innards, the fastener system for the freedom top (wildboar apparently had bolts that go through holes that run all the way through the top), etc.

As far as ease of installation - I can't imagine it being hard at all since it doesn't have a rear wiper. Plop the back end down, bolt it in, and then put the front on. I can't tell if that's one or two panels, but either way... back, front, done. You'd probably need to buy hard top nuts (they go under the beltrail and allow you to screw down the top).

Anyway, it's not what I'd blow $2500 on right now, but it looks like it could be a good deal. Don't hold me to it or blame me if it's crap, though

I'd just get a trektop and call it good. Has the slant back you are looking for and much less money. Plus way more convienent. Love mine.

Oh and if you have an existing hard top, I'd imagine any old fiberglass shop could modify your hard top to be a slant back for a HELL of a lot cheaper than 2k.

I would assume that the rear slant follows the contours of the roll/sport bars?

From another listing for what appears to be the same top...

One large front panel might mean you have to leave it home, if you take it off.

I don't know, it is made in the US, according to their website. If you like the looks, I would contact them and see what type of warranty they offer.

I would serious look in to this offer!! I would not spend 3k on a top like that when you can get a real OEM top for less.

Why would you want the slant? Seems to me like it would severely limit your cargo capacity. Never really understood that, but then again I could fill a small shipping container with all the things I don't understand.......so......

This is a DV8 Off Road fastback top listed by one of our dealers. All DV8 Fastback Tops come with an extensive warranty that covers leaks, seals, fitment, and anything else you can think of! All of our hard tops are made in the USA and with the highest quality seals and fiberglass. The inside of the top is lined with insulating carpet and the rear windows have a defrost feature. You will not be disappointed with a DV8 Off Road Hard Top. DV8 hard tops are in stock and do not have a 6-8 week wait time like our competitors. All of the hardware needed if install is included with the installation kit so there is no need to buy hard top nuts.
