I get the worst mileage of any JK ever

Well it's cold here. I have a 4 minute drive to work. I never get on the highway. I only have 2500 miles on it. I run 35's. It's a fairly heavy loaded Rubicon. All that adds up to bad mileage. I got 11.25 US mpg on this tank according to my EVIC and my calculator. Anybody getting worse mileage than that? I'm not complaining. I like my Jeep. I'm just glad I don't have to drive it far.

Actually if you drove it far, your mileage would improve. On my daily routine routes of travel, I see anywhere between 16.9 and 18.2 depending on the weather and how I drive that week. I took a 6 hour trip to the Adirondacks a couple months ago driving much of the trip over 75mph with bursts up to 100mph. At the end of the trip, I was getting over 19mpg. A couple weeks ago I drove down to VA, 7 hours away, and was sustaining speeds of 80mph+ and hovering around 100mph at times. At the end of that trip I was over 20mpg!

Holy Crap, Batman!!! If "Beastie" hit a 100, I think I would have to have my diapers changed... my big 37's don't like fast.

Nice. I had a new sport for a few months earlier this year and it got 24 mpg highway with 29 inch tires, 3.21 gears and a six speed. Quite impressive really. This is it:

Ha Ha. You definitely want small tires for that. 100 mph is crazy fast in a JK.

I don't think I'll ever push it much past 80 in my neck of the woods, but with 3.21 gearing it just purrs a little past 2k rpm at 80. I see no issue cruising along at 90mph.

Short hops the mileage is really bad, like under 15 in my 2014 2-door Polar. It typically gets around 17-18. I've never seen past 19.8 on the highway yet.

Basic stock 2013 jk with 24s package, my wife drives 2 miles to and 2 miles back to work and rocks about 14.5-14.9 mpg. In the summer when we go to Maine a lot averaged up to 24mpg on highway and about 18-19mpg putting around. short hops are a mileage killer for sure!

I'm sure that's a big part of my issue. I drive about 10 blocks to work stopping at half the lights. Not very efficient.

True, don't rely on dashboard MPG if you are doing short drives. here is the tip
empty your bank, fill it up, write down the milage and drive until it empties. then you can do the maths right?

Why are people freaking out about 100mph?

I can get my 4.0 TJ with 4.88 gears and 37's to 100mph. Due to fuel cutoff it won't go any faster but it's not "scary". It's loud but smooth. Not a big deal.....

It also averages 14/15 mpg.

OP, your mileage is crap because you have a heavy Jeep on tall, heavy tires without proper axle gears and probably get up to proper operating temperature about 30 seconds before getting to work. I'm not surprised at all at those results.

No B/S. When I went to the ADK, I had my factory 17" wheels with factory Goodyear SA's rubber on. The trip to VA, I had the factory 16" steelies also with the factory Goodyear tires on. As far as calculating mileage, I use www.fuelly.com. I DO NOT go by the EVIC

Your engine is barely warmed up by the time you get to work. I do about 28 miles to work with about 20 of that on the highway. I'm averaging 19.5 mpg with a 2014 JKU, 2.5" lift and 32" tires.

I'm in a very similar situation. JKUR on 33's and I drive 3-4 miles to work all city. I'm averaging around 11-12 city. I can hit 18-20 if I do all highway. I didn't buy a jeep for fuel economy.

I never get better than about 16.5 no matter where I drive and I don't have that heavy of a foot. But I love my Jeep. Mine is usually somewhere in the mid 14's.

I can do worse, at work I drive at idle on patrol, if I zero my evic when I start the Jeep, and check it after shift, I average 8.9 mpg. I just don't look at that anymore, it's depressing. My TJ did better than that at idle.

On the other hand, when I drive normal, I average 15-17 mpg. Best mileage is when I drive lots of highway.

You are 100% correct. I'm not freaking out about mileage though. We have a highway car for mileage. This jeep will go from Toronto to Tampa in February also. I don't care what it costs. Btw I forgot to mention I remote start it about ten minutes before I leave for work so that's doesn't help mileage either.

Around town I am generally in the 16-17 range with stop/start and a fairly short 6 mile commute. I hit 19.9 once but was a lot of open road at 70ish and descending off the hills of the Rim.

Man these numbers are making me jealous! Bought mine a few months ago as she sits: 2011 3.5" lift 33" km2's and 4.88's. Mine does do 90+ without feeling too scary though.

I do average 16 in mix driving, on long runs like I did this weekend going Montréal / Niagara falls back and forth I calculated 21-22 mpg cruising at 70mph.

i am getting 11 mpg stock. My secret is living in a cold climate, using my remote start to warm up before i drive to and from work, having a short commute, and idling at the coffee stand every morning while i wait.
