I hate deer

The trip to work in the fog was not a good trip today. But at least my JK came out better than the deer. Now I just need to hit the classifieds for a used bumper

I'm not sure if it is worth even messing with the insurance. i have a 500 deductible. And can probably find the parts way less than that. I already got the fender and support off Amazon for 117

Ouch! Luckily your Jeep fared well. I have seen deer do real numbers on vehicles.

there are dead deer littered all over my commute in Coweta and South Fulton counties. I too hate deer, but love me some fried backstrap! You have to thank developers that buy up land and either over develop or never develop the land yet won't allow anyone to hunt on it!

That sucks. I know a guy who hit a deer, totalling his new truck (they get big in PA).

He replaced the truck with a new one and hit another deer a 1/4 mile from where he hit the first one.

Damage required a rental for a few weeks to repair the 2nd truck.

- all within two weeks.

He found a new route to work after this.

I have the stock bumper from my JK just sitting in my garage. It's in perfect condition and I was looking for $100, but could come down. I'm also in NJ, if you're interested.

Free bumper in my garage. If you find yourself in Golden, CO... Looks like you have some new flares in your future too.

Take a look at Craigslist too. We often get cheap/free bumper ads in there for stock.

Or it could be time to upgrade.

I love deer, so yummy. Nothing like killing dinner with a jeep.

If it was me i would go around get estimates and get the insurance to cut me the check. The prices for stock parts are probably higher than aftermarket. You could get metal bumpers. Id probably stick with the factory flares.

Unless theres bent metal, its easy diy work...

I just put on an XRC mod bumper with stinger. A week later smacked a deer. Poor basterd didn't have a chance. The stinger kept him away from the jeep and pretty much impaled the deer. And no damage at all to the bumper. I know it's a shittybuilt but held up great.

time to mod, that's the exact reason we added a modular system to Dixie, deer are all over around us. Glad that's all that happened could have been worse.

They may be nicknamed shittybuilt, but I like their bumpers a lot, especially the XRC rear.

Is that for your collision or comp insurance? Seems high for comp. Talk to your agent about changing that to 0 deductible. It is low cost and worth the price. I think my policy went up about 12.00 per year by switching to 0 deductible. This way in the future you have 100 % coverage for broken glass, theft, vandalism, road damage from items falling off of other vehicles and most of all Deer.

I save a ton with a high deductible. Every time you make a claim you risk a premium increase even if they claim you dont.... my insurance is for major incidents, not little ones.

But....i recently switched to a 1000 dollar broadform deductible. If its not my fault, no deductible. It only cost 5 dollars a month. Im a perfect driver so this works for me. Im sure a deer collision wouldnt be at fault....

Of course i live in michigan where insurance is retarded...

Agreed! That's my next purchase is the XRC rear. The nickname doesn't fit. It's a damn good product!

Thanks guys. It was really foggy when I him. Never even saw him coming. My estimate was 980 so I decided to turn it in. Already ordered a new fender from Amazon and I think I am going to go with an aftermarket bumper. I really like the old school look of the Smittybuilt tube bumper. Except nowhere to mount the fog lights. Whats the reason most people do not like their products? I never see any good reviews of them but I don't know why.

LOL i just nailed a small doe about a 100 yards from my home. Key is the smash the gas not the brake, raises the front up. Threw her in the back, and had her cleaned, baged and in the freezer in and hour. Happy Jeep Huntering. Great excuse for a bad *ss bumper and fenders!

The one thing I have always worried about is having a deer set off the airbag somehow. I know is shouldn't but it still worries me. All those years driving little cars before I found Jeeps.

Don't replace it with an OEM bumper unless you want to deal with this again, and next time, you may not be so lucky and actually suffer an injury. Get a steel bumper.
