I might be getting out of my Jeep?!

This is ridiculous, this is the 3rd time I've had it to the dealer for warranty work in the past 6 months.

It's been in for 3 rear main seals, 2 throw out bearings, leaking radiator, and A/C blower, just in the past 6 months! I'm at 42k miles and this is giving me very little confidence in the longevity of my jeep once my warranty is out. I don't abuse it off road, I actually barely even get to take it to a dirt road because there isn't crap here in Miami to go to. Just regular street driving, and if it's breaking this much this early, what does that mean for the long term?

Someone talk me out of this, because I'm seriously looking at some Tacoma TRD Off Roads right now...

You may be able to get a replacement Jeep, and the odds of getting another one with the kinds of issues you're having are pretty slim. Most new Jeeps are as trouble-free as any other brand you'd buy. Check here:

I looked into the florida lemon laws, I'm out of time as it must have had 3 visits for the same issue within 24 months. It all started at 24 months X-/. And the dealer I bought it from is on the other side of the country. It does suck, that I've already been without it for 7 weeks since December, and for the rear main seal this week, they won't even GET the parts for another 3 days, who knows if it'll take em 3 more weeks to fix it this time like it has every other time.

It just very disheartening of a situation, I know not everyone deals with issues like this, but since I'm not mechanically inclined enough to be able to resolve issues this large on my own, I'm concerned about my future options. X-/

If it's off the road for 30 days within one year I think you can lemon it in Florida too.

Sounds v lemonish.

Can happen w any vehicle.

I suggest you go to corporate w your issues. Record everything, who you talk to, be relentless. I've heard of it working.

Three rear main seals in the last 6 months? That's lemon and would scare the crap out of my wallet.

If you like wranglers trade in and up. Beat the service manager up (figuratively) to get w the sales manager and cut you a great deal. Or work that out w corporate.

Do you beat on it? If so, that will explain the issues.

If not, you could try taking it to a different dealer. The one you are going to may stink or scam.

Personally, I'd trade it in and get a new one.

3 rear mains in 6 months, yes.

I don't beat on it, I just drive it, just regular day to day commute driving. Very rarely over 3k RPMs.

Unfortunately, the dealer it's at now, is the 3rd one I've been to down here in FL. The other two were even worse. And I am thinking of trading it, but I've talked to half a dozen dealers, and none of them are able to work with me enough, which is what made me think a taco might be a good option. Brand new is 33k with the TRD Off Road pkg, optioning a replacement JKU to what I have is pushing 35

This qualifies as lemon. Its not 3 of same issue within 24 months of purchase. Its 3 of same issue within a 24 month time frame. Plus add the off road for more than 30 days and this is definitely a lemon law issue. Take it to dealer, say lemon law and demand they make it right.

I was shopping Tacomas and Frontiers before I bought my Wrangler.

I actually was going to buy the Frontier Pro4X but the Jeep dealer called me back and gave me a price I was willing to pay.

Be sure to read about all of the problems with the new Tacomas on Tacoma World before you jump out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Warning! TW is overrun with White Knights who will disparage you and all your kin if you even imply that the Tacoma is anything other than the Chariot Of The Gods,

I have never seen so many fanbois.

I'm thinking of getting either a JK or a TuRD OR Taco.

I've been to Taco World, and all the transmission threads are troubling. I was talking to a guy the other day with a new Taco who mentioned the issue before I even asked about it. Apparently there is a new SOFTWARE flash for it though, so I'm curious to see how that goes.

The other thing is that apparently the 3.5 feels relatively gutless compared to the old motor. I haven't looked up the power curve yet, but I imaging the torque doesn't start till pretty high into the rev range.

I drove a Frontier a few months ago, I didn't like very much about it, but that 4.0 felt FANTASTIC.

I still want to drive a Taco, but I don't think I'm going to like it. Plus, it looks like they still have that weird seating position.

It's a shame, because while not as cool as a Jeep, they're certainly a better value.

I don't know about a JKU, but my 2 door with 3.73 gears feels significantly stronger than the Tacoma.

And I think the main complaint about the Tacoma is not necessarily the power, but how to access the power.

The 3.5 is so high strung that it sounds like a blender if you rev it enough to get to the power, and the transmission has more trouble deciding which gear it wants to be in than my wife does deciding which restaurant we should go to.

Between the engine needing to be wound out to get it to move, the "shifty" transmission tuning, and the fact that your MPG will suck constantly wringing it out made for a poor driving experience to me (I drove 5 different ones and ALL of them had the scatterbrain shifting)

The Frontier 4.0 has no low rpm torque deficiencies.

Regarding the software. On a buddies taco the reflash fixed his complaints.

My brother has a 2017 Taco TRD offroad, he loves the silly thing. They are neat trucks but not without citrus editions every so often.

Yours sure sounds like it's getting a bit acidic. Hopefully you can utilize Lemon laws, as that many rear mains would really get to me.

Good luck in whatever direction you go.

my jeep dealer has been swapping out jeeps for me since sept 2016 instead of me going the lemon law route.

2016 jeep #1. severe paint defects. re-ordered a 2017 after the changeover

2017 jeep #2. unfixable water leaks. slew of other issues (defective steering wheels, fuel fill line, wrong door panel, the list goes on). i qualify for lemon law for both repair attempts AND time out of service. dealer re-ordered another identical 2017. should be here end of june

so i will be on jeep #3 in less than 10 months. incredible. the quality control on these Wranglers that Toledo is pumping out, is below abysmal

So, they don't seem to be playing ball on a replacement, without me paying full price for it while they lowball a trade. So, *sigh*

I finally got it back today (5 of the past 6 weeks it's been in the shop) and they said that the instructions chrysler provided were wrong, and so when the techs were following the instructions, it was telling them to do it wrong. They said they spent this week working with chrysler to get someone who knows what they're doing to walk them thru with the proper instructions. So... idk what to do at this point

This is the route that you need to go. The dealership is not really involved in an Lemon type situation, it's the manufacturer and your attorney.

From my understanding they take the vehicle back, and pretty much just make your loan go away. I believe that it's up to you to decide which route that you want to go when it comes to your next vehicle.

Check with a local attorney who knows the law. Those of us here can give advice, but some of that advice might just be flat out wrong. An attorney will know what you need to do, and the steps to do it in.

good luck

Go to an attorney. As I said before, I went this route and glad I did. It's a win/win for you and the attorney. Sure he may get a modest cut from your settlement (plus the fees paid to him by the manufacturer), but the amount of time it save from going through Bull$h*t from the dealer and arbitration, inspections, back and forth negotiations, etc. are worth 10x that.

Basically once you pull the trigger on it, attorney does all the work for you. Plus you get to drive the car until its settled (they can't offset mileage beyond the first occurrence of the repair, after it gets fixed of course) Granted it took some time (almost a year) but worth every penny I got back.

Definitely worth a phone call to see what is possible.
