I Need Advice/Help..*Stressing*

Okay, So I just bought my first Jeep. I purchased at 2008 Wrangler Unlimited X, with a 107,000 miles on it for $16,000. First off I believe I may have over payed a little, but I am impatient, and I have always wanted a Wrangler. Now I am concerned though. I have noticed that my transmission seems to get really hot, I can feel it on the floor boards, also i can feel the heat coming from the shifter boot, even the stick its self gets pretty hot. Another problem Im having is once I warm it up, it will start to stutter or "jerk" a little when I put it into gear, but its only when I first put it into gear. After I get going I have no problem. My only idea is to flush my transmission. I really hope I don't already have transmission problems. Oh, also it likes to pop out of reverse, and makes me want to cry after hearing all that grinding. Is this normal? Any Advice or theories would be much appreciated. I really can't afford to be dropping thousands of dollars in this thing already, the military doesn't pay that great.
Thanks

You really need to get a qualified technician to take a look at it. I understand impatience but due diligence and getting your mechanic to take a look at the vehicle before exchanging money ... well you may be in for a wild ride.

I think the military JAG office provides protection from local dealers ripping off servicemembers. I think you may have a good case for a return, it seems you may need it.

My friend got taken for a ride back in 1995, I think he paid like 20% rate, plus $15K plus loan for a used eclipse that was a lemon. I believe the dealer took back the car and was blackballed if I remember correctly, after military attorney intervention

I bet that you are low on gear lube.

I would take it for a tech to look at it immediately, like Kevlars suggested.

I'am going to take it to get looked at ASAP. Besides that issue it seems to run great, I don't have any check engine lights on or anything. If something was serious wouldn't it send a code??

The heat is probably just exhaust heat.
Let the clutch out slower. What size tires are on it?
Not sure about the reverse gear problem, its a long-throw shifter, though.
Have a reputable mechanic check it all out. Know one on base? Never hurts to change out the lube oil, look for metal shavings.

If I was ever to buy a used jeep the first thing I would do is look at the belly to see if its a mall crawler or actually wheeled. Then take to a mechanic of your choice to be evaluated. Prefferably someone expiernced with 4x4 components.

A jeep that has been wheeled may worry me more, but any rig can have its issues so alway take it to YOUR mechanic fo a second opinion...if the dealer bawks, buy elsewhere.

On post you should have a hobby shop. Its staffed by mostly retired and very qualified mechanics. They should be able to get you diagnosed at no charge. If the repair is significant go see the JAG. Your NCO or DivO should be able to guide you.

I thought I was letting the clutch out to slow might be the problem, so I started doing it faster lol

Good new as of now, I changed out all my spark plugs. So far I haven't had any issues with it being "jerky" while driving.
