I need help... passenger seat keeps falling foward

First time post guys..... Great Forum by the way.

I need some help. I have a 2009 2 door wrangler with 2500 miles on it. I love the Jeep.. But I have one small problem. My passenger front seat keeps falling foward towards the glovebox and gets all limp and wobbley (the upper half). I have the vinyl seats in it. When nobody is sitting in it it flops back and forth. I have taken it in to the local dealer twice an same problem keeps happening. Any ideas would be great.
Thanks Again.

May be you should manually slide the front seat all the way to the front by releasing the bottom slide bar..

The first visit they tore the seat down to the frame and rebuild it. It was good for a few months. Now the same thing is happening again. The dealer is baffled ! They are not sure what the problem is. They were just going to order a whole assembled seat for it... but that is not an option.. Jeep will only allow you to order parts for the seat. Thanks for the replys.

Wow...what baloney! There is obviously a defective part that is not retaining the seat properly...I would kick and scream for a new seat...

Vocally remind them that a seat not locking properly is a MAJOR safety issue.

You might also drop by your insurance adjuster and have him/she write an official notice of probable civil suit, against the Dealer/Chrysler, in the event of an injury accident --ON THE PASSENGER SIDE--

Now I don't know who your insurance co. is, or if they would do that--Mine would and I'm with Ca. AAA

Good luck

Wooble seat

You did not mention if you had a seat cover that could be catching the upper latch, anyway I have a 09, notice the upper handle on the side that releases the seat to slide forward does not latch completely if you are not sure to push the seat all the way back to lock the latch under the front of the seat. Also, if you release the lower latch first before the upper one, the slide latch don't catch sometimes, main thing is, if your accessing the rear seat, only use the upper latch, this will release the seat to tilt forward and slide as well. Probably not your problem, but I have noticed this issue with mine.

I realize this thread is old, but did a quick search that pulled this thread up. I've had my 09 for about a month now and my passenger seat is now doing this exact thing...has anyone else had this problem and had it fixed? What was the issue and how was it fixed? Thanks!

I have an 08 JK and mine is doing the same thing. Passenger side as well. It started leaning forward spontaneously on its own, I would push it back and it would lock, then 10 minutes later it did it again, now it won’t lock at all and know when I accelerate and stop it crashes forward and back on the rails. This will be the 5th time having to take it in and I haven’t even made the first payment yet!!! what the hell!! I thought an 08 with 20k would be a safe bet.
