I need some help...

I have an '07 wrangler X and just took it on a long trip (8 hours highway both ways ) and during the trip the jeep performed outstanding! A couple of days after returning home I noticed a clicking that sounded a lot like the lifters when an engine is low on oil. I checked the oil and the level was fine but it was a bit dark so i changed it. I put a new filter and 6 quarts of the recommended 5W-20 oil in it and the click won't go away. Is there anyone out there who might know what is causing this? I appreciate any help on the matter and am willing to try anything.

Have you checked your tires for rocks?

This x10 ^^

If its not that. What filter you use? A low quality oil filter with faulty anti drainback valve
might cause some issues.

It is definitely not rocks in the tires because it happens when it is at idle sitting in my driveway. I will have to check again what oil filter I used but I know for sure it was the best one available to me being here in Germany.

JK are known to get a cracked in the exhaust manifold. This could be what you're hearing. Look into it.

Power washing after wheeling can also do this. Hope it's neither.

exhaust manifold definitely peaks my interest. Thanks for all the great ideas...I'm at work right now but when I get home and take it apart I will definitely get back on here and let everyone know what happened.

Well after looking into the exhaust manifold here is what I found. I haven't taken off the other side yet or taken the entire thing off but after removing the heat shield I found this crack. Could be my problem but nonetheless I will have to change it anyways. Thanks for the help! Anything fun I can do with this since I am taking it apart anyways?

I know what you problem is. You are in Germany!!! They can't make anything good that works properly. You may want to LEAVE!!!!

Just don't use any parts that were made there. You will be screwed!!! ROYALLY!!!

But at least you found that. Check the other one & start with them. Good luck bub!

alright well I don't know if anyone is even looking at this thread anymore but here is an update anyways.

I replaced the driver's side manifold and of course the sound is still there. I guess this weekend I will have to remove the battery and fusebox and try to get at the passenger side. I am a bit weary about it though because the new manifold on the driver's side didn't seem to even quiet the noise at all so I have a sneaky suspicion that this isn't going to fix anything. I am aware that I may have to post a video to get a better diagnosis from the experts on the forum but I need help. I am getting angrier and angrier the longer my Jeep sits in the driveway but I don't want to risk further engine damage.

Any help or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

Your oil level is good, right? Have you found any other exhaust leak? Is the timing on yours chain driven? It is possible that it could have slipped even if it is a chain. Any way you can get a video of the problem up on here? Might help more...

Where did you go and how fast were you going to get there? I'm asking partly because I lived in Berlin and Augsburg and have driven many of those same autobahns.
