And if you want to sell your 130, make sure you get your code for it so the buyer can install it...

Looking at a 430N on ebay... Has a green dot on the sticker. Does this mean the buttons are lit green? Also have contacted the seller about the antitheft code. He hasn't responded. Is there any way that a dealer would be able to hack the code if I don't get it? Thanks again for your help.

One last question... The 430N that I found on ebay is exactly what I'm looking for, taken out of a new Rubicon that was customized. The price is too good to pass up. But I'm in trouble with the antitheft thing. They don't have the VIN number of the Rubi they took it from.
I checked out the link in the previous post (thanks jdambm!). While I realize that I might need to just enter in random codes, will my dealer be able to get the unlock code without the VIN as long as they have the radio part number?

To put it simple no. Imo. They actually made me bring my Jeep to them to get my code of the 130. I needed it so I could sell it. I first had the radio in hand after removing it, drove my wife's car with the 130 in hand (my radio!) and no dice. They needed to see my jeep it came from before I could get the code.

I agree with Deepjeep i passed up 3 or 4 great deals on ebay because they did not have the code. Some one on here posted that a company will crack it for $100. When i found them i talked to panthermark and Pat at Fields and they both said to pass on the units. They are BRICKS without the security code. Another member told me the security codes are stored on a server and linked to your vin

I know a guy... that got the code from a dealer for an Ebay purchased unit with no vin or proof of vehicle ownership. Don't know how they did it but they did. Guess some dealers will provide the code if you can prove you purchased the unit and it's not stolen... likely not protocol but it sure does happen.

I have been lurking in this thread for ages and I finally pulled the trigger on a 430n. Found it on eBay for $500! It was out of a 2011. This will be swapping out the 130 in my 2013.

Model #: P05064829AG
Supplier: 28046
Laser Date: Feb 02/2011
Software Application (firmware): 23.04.41

Just finished swapping the units on my lunch break and I love it! Very happy with the purchase. I have the connectivity package (has the uconnect module) and everything worked like a charm as many others have reported.

Down side is that the radio is not the most up to date, as in having the anti-theft feature. I might just spend a little time researching and see if I can match and apply a decal that says "anti-theft", I am a bit paranoid when it comes to security so the added deterrent would ease my mind.

Now comes more research about firmware upgrades, customizing the settings on my radio, getting my 1 year SirusXM trial transferred over, and eventually the backup cam.

So far in the 20 minutes I have played with it I am very happy.

I don't have the site but there is a spot on a grand cherokee forum that has the downloadable .iso file that you simply burn the image onto a CD and follow the instructions and it's easy as pie. I did my outdated 2011 RBZ and it was simple and completed perfectly.

Nice man, thanks for the tip! I will be researching and hunting for an .iso tonight.

If/when I find it I will be sure to update this thread.

First, Big Thanks to all the forum members for the help and this Thread....
Spent many night reading and re-reading all the posts. I picked up my RBZ on ebay for $250, It was out of a 2011 Town Car. Install took 30 minutes and on the second start up it switched to the Jeep Screen.... Big Win.... I just finish up transferring my sirius subscription, the guy on the phone was very nice and a Off-Road'er too.... We talk for a long time about all the great places to 4-Wheel here in Arizona... He did wave the $15 transfer fee..... Way Cool...

Thanks Again Forum Members.....

I'll be joining the club soon! Just won an auction for a newer RBZ with anti-theft code, and the seller has the code. How much is lockpick gonna cost when I want to add a backup camera?

around 300 more bucks, plus 20-50 for a cam and then a few hours of your time for install. From what I gather that is the cost of admission. 300 RBZ, 300 Lockpick, and 50 cam. At 650 you should be all set but no Nav.

Thanks Doc! I guess I can add a few more dollars to my total as I paid more than $300 for my RBZ because I wanted a 509 version and not a 506. Good to know what I'll need for the future though.

You could just get the Jeep Commander camera for $150, it's plug and play with the 430's (so I'm told) . I think that's what I'm going to do.

I'll have to look into that, thanks for the tip. That price sounds much better but I also liked how with lockpick I could play a DVD while in motion.

Just know that in most states, if not all, that is illegal. I know "illegal" is a sick bird but a ticket would suck.

The one other issue with the Commander cam is that is has to be flashed by the dealer to work. So you have to add that cost in...and some dealers want to charge you $75 for 10 minutes of work. Jerks.....

I ended up going with Lockpick V.5 so I...errrr...ummmm...the wife could have video in motion (or adjust nav in motion if you have a 430n/730n), along with having RCA inputs and outputs built in. But I got a bad unit (which I suspected when it was delivered nearly 2 months ago), so I'm dealing with the whole return/exchange process.

Here's a question for the RBZ experts. Do either RBZ variants (506 or 509) have the software with the Sirius favorite artist function, or the Sirius channel list that can show channel title, artist, or song instead of just channel title? I have a 506 with software 8.05.02 that I think is great, but I'd switch with a 509 if I knew those had the Sirius functions I want. I'm comparing my RBZ to my buddy's Nav unit, so maybe none of the RBZs have the updated software. I've been thinking the units with the 33.xx software would have what I want, but I'm not sure. Anyone know?

Hold off on doing that! I'm in the process of troubleshooting why the image from the commander camera looks like crap! Blurred and saturated. Would have an answer in the next week. Swapping for another commander camera. May be a bad component, or the guys who put it in damaged the video cable shielding.

Yes, I have a 509, with most recent software. And it has those features. Very convenient I might add.

I said I would post this once I found it...

Turns out this is posted a few times in this same thread, but I suppose one more time can't hurt especially as this thread continues to grow.

As previously mentioned, I put a 430n in my 2013 JK. The radio has a 506 model number, a build date of 2/2011, and was at firmware version 23.04.41. This is a 430n without the security feature, at least it is not specified on the radio itself like the newer 509 model 430rbz/n.

I wanted to upgrade the firmware to 33.01.23. This update doesn't do much for the rbz units from what I can gather, but it does update the navigation part for the 430n and makes it look very similar if not exactly like the nav in the current '12 and '13 JKs. I found the iso and the step-by-step tsb from the following site: New Software Update MyGIG RBZ-RB2-RHB / 33.01.23 - Jeep Garage - Jeep Forum I had trouble with the radio reading the CDs I burned. I ended up installing InfraRecorder (it is free) chose the option to "write image" selected the iso file I downloaded, burned it to the disc and wad finally able to perform the update.

I was performing the update and on the final reboot *gasp* the radio asked me for a security code. Now since this was a 506 build I was under the impression I would not need a code to have this radio work, it was working fine for a few days in my Jeep before I decided to update. I did not have the code as I never anticipated needing it and I immediately shot the seller a message asking for the VIN. In the mean time I tried entering a few codes, turning off the Jeep, etc and nothing. I waited about an hour, started up the Jeep and BAM the radio does not prompt me for a code and is just working fine. The firmware is updated to 33.01.23 and I verify the nav graphics are updated.

So this leads me to question if the security feature is part of the 509 models or part of the 33.x (or later) firmware build(s). I guess the real test would be for me to remove my 430n, try it in another Jeep and see if the radio prompts for a code. If it does then I'd be curious if the code would be based upon my VIN or the original Jeep's VIN that the radio came in.

Just wanted to share my experiences and thoughts for those who want to upgrade their 430rbz/n to 33.x. The real challenge here would be to somehow get a hold of the 44.x firmware the 509 model 430s come with that give the radio the black theme instead of the blue theme that the radios have from firmware build 8.x thru 33.x.

Thanks Deepjeep and vacca. Looks like I'll have a 506 RBZ for sale soon. I wish I would have known this before buying my current RBZ, so hopefully this information will be useful for someone.

Got the install done tonight. Removing the dash was the hardest part but went fairly easy. The Ram logo only took 30 seconds to flip over to Jeep. I was worried about transferring my trial Sirius subscription but when I fired the RBZ up Sirius was working. I've avoid the Sirius phone call....for now. Very happy with the results.
