This thread needs to become a sticky at some point, and pull together the bits and pieces from across it into one place (including maybe a spreadsheet of part nos).
Not that I'm volunteering, but someone's got to have some spare time one weekend...

If Chrysler had a lick of common sense, they would offer the 430 RBZ as a $450 (MSRP) factory option....and we would not even need this thread.

After much thought, I've drank the kool-aid and put in a 430 RBZ. I definitely am happy. It's much better. I did have some 'next step' questions I did not see after researching the forum:

the 430 rbz instantly sounded much louder/powerful than the stock 130. I am interested in adding aftermarket speakers. I'm confused by ohm's. I understand stock 130 and stock speakers are 2 ohm's. My question - is the 430 rbz a 2 or 4 ohm set up? Before I empty my pockets more, seems smart to buy the correct speakers.

(I suppose if i was considering an amp I can do whatever... not sure if i'm there yet)

Yellowtailfan I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one that thinks there stereo sounds more powerful/better after the head unit swap. I did the swap a few weeks ago only I did the 730n & it sounded awesome afterwards! Enjoy!

The RBZ puts out more watts per channel than the 130. I am also assuming that the processor is a lot better, higher sensitivity. The amp is what is running at 2 ohm. You would have to change the factory amp to change, realistically, to a better setup.

Actually, it's been installed for a few weeks. I found some excellent youtube videos on how to remove the dash & install procedures - matched everything thats been prescribed on this forum as well. Literally takes about 15 - 20 mins.

Mine is antitheft, highspeed, & as mentioned they (usaaccessories.com) always provide the 4 digit pw. I plugged it in, entered the code and the "jeep" logo came on, everything was perfect. It even came with 15 songs on the HDD!! (guess it wasn't erased, oh well) Only mistake I made... on the back of the HU there is a 'mark' or 'dot' in blue or green ink/sharpie. This is supposed to indicate the color of the lights on the unit. I decided to go with blue, thinking it will go good in my Jeep. I love it but I should have gone green. The Jeep lighting is more greenish-teal than i thought. Regardless, easiest MOD I've done. good luck!

If you have a premium system, the power output is the same (130 vs 430). The CAN-Bus reads the system to see if you have the factory amp, and if so, the wattage comes from the amp.

And if you have the premium system, everything is at 2 ohms....even the drivers. That is why it is so hard to match up speakers.

Why is RBZ

What is the alpine speaker upgrade really?

Does it have an amp and can you plug and play new speakers?

1. RBZ is the technical name/code for the 430 non-nav HU....a unit not available from the factory in a Wrangler. For the Wrangler there is the 130, 430N, and 730N. So you will sometimes see things like RER or RHB, ect...those are the technical name/codes for other versions of the HU.

We use RBZ so people know what version to look for, and so that people don't assume we are talking about the 430N when were are really talking about the 430.

2. Alpine factory upgrade....same as the Infinity factory upgrade. It includes better speakers (better is relative), an amp, and a subwoofer in the rear.

3. As stated, the premium sound system has an amp.....and while you can add better speakers, the factory premium system pushes EVERYTHING at 2 ohms, so finding a properly matched speaker is tough.

The problem with the factory system is that you are looked into it's processing. It isn't like an aftermarket amp where you have control over gain and crossovers and such. It can be difficult to upgrade a factory system without gutting the whole thing.

Sorry if it's been asked,

But with the RBZ, if I wanted to put a backup camera on my 2013 2 door Wrangler Sahara, do I buy the camera for the Grand Cherokee and it works? Or is there special mounting that has to occur? How about reflash?
I assume cable length is ok in 2 door.

I'm pretty happy after getting my RBZ installed last week. I added uConnect, the steering wheel buttons and a GC backup camera. uConnect & the camera have been activated, but I haven't finished running the harness or installing the camera in the back bumper yet.

Question for those who have successfully upgraded their software... I'm stuck on 10.00.11 on a mid 2010 P05064678AI from an '11 T&C, and none of the .iso's I've found out there for 23.xx.xx or the latest 33.xx.xx have worked. Rumor has it I need something in the 15.xx.xx range to bridge the gap from older updates to new. Anyone able to get there?

You'll have to drill the rear bumper and do some trimming on the back side, and come up with a fastening system to secure the camera to the back side of the bumper. I've seen some pretty good solutions on this forum and others... You should be able to find it searching a bit. The dealer flash is required if you don't want to add a Lockpick, and XAC is the code the dealer needs to add. I wasn't going to use the added features, so $40 for the flash was better than $200+ for the Lockpick. And the harness length should be fine... I'm guessing there are a few spots you could secure the extra wire.

I'll be adding a rear camera soon....just have to figure out which one to go with.
I ordered my Lockpick on Thursday at 3:30 in the afternoon....signed for it around noon on Saturday.

One of the big reasons for getting an RBZ is for the LCD screen so I can have a reverse camera. The slope of the driveway makes backing up a pure guess.

This. The AEV carrier puts my 35" spare way up, and rear visibility is horrible.

And I had no desire for nav in my HU... I couldnt be happier with Navigon on my iPhone, with traffic, topo and quarterly updates.

This only works for the automatics, right? Or can you flash a manual transmission jeep to get a backup camera with the 430 RBZ? With the flash, do you have to use the commander camera for plug and play or will an ebay camera work with a flashed ECM?

Whether you have the 130 or the 430, the speakers on the Jeep suck, even with the premium system. To get around this problem using your 130 or 430, buy a premium amp (5 Chan to run the sub), buy some good 4 ohm speakers, replace all the speakers including the sub-woofer and use a LOC (2 chan adjustable line out converter).

Thanks... I have not figured out if I want to drill the rear bumper, or go with a license plate style camera.

Sorry, I'm not sure about manuals.

I'm just living with it.

I put in my 77Kick10's, added polyfil, and called it a day.

I looked at adding a PAC C2A-CHY23 module to get some RCA outputs, but when you use it, you lose you EQ adjustments. Plus, I didn't want to add an amp under the seat or in the rear. I also looked at adding a sub only amp (and a new sub)...but got lazy.

So factory amp it is....

Between the headliners being available, the RBZ coming up, and the pinch seams being trimmed, it seems like Jeep has been reading the threads and making changes.
