Why did you get black color

I have been looking for a silver or red one but have been looking for a month now and none are suitable for me (moneywise)

So found a 2009 black sport with leather installed seats that suits my price
I am starting to like the black color
(my mom says it reminds her of military secret service vehicle)

I'm about 60% convinced to get it and I need some more reasons to psyche me up for it

I need help to turn to the darkside

I didn't want another black vehicle especially my jeep knowing it was gonna get scratched to hell and black is the worst for showing scratches, but for a '99 sport 4.0l 5spd with 3.73s and only 55k miles unmolested other than 31s on factory wheels I'd would have been an idiot not I snag it for the $5000 I paid I would have rather had the bright green or orange rubi or an LJ but they run around $15 k with a minimum double the mileage around here keep in mind I just bought my current TJ July 5th this year. Don't get me wrong tho I love the way black looks when it's polished I just don't polish my jeep

I was down to the black or red. Went with the black because I don't see a lot of them on the road. Also, it just looked...hardcore. Moreso than any of the other colors I saw.

But that's just me. I'll pay for it in winter, when the road salts glaze it like a Cruller. Probably have to clean it several times, on days when it's not too cold (if we get any of those this winter ).

I'm not a chrome lover at all, and almost all of my mods are powder-coated black or black plastic. Bushwacker flatties, front / rear bumpers, aux lights, rims, etc.

Black imo cleans up the best even though it does show the most when dirty...

Black on black is rugged but classy. So trail worthy and mall crawl eye catcher. I only purchase black vehicles.

Althought my opinion is diff then yours, so don't settle. Get what you want!

Had a 2009 Red Rock Crystal Pearl JKU and traded it for the 2012 JKU Black to match my other cars 2009 C6 vette Z51, 2008 BMW 335I and 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP.
Detail bill is always high for me but all my black vehicles look fantastic clean.

How is black in the summer?
I'm considering Black Forest Green.........but I'm worried about getting into a roasting hot Jeep (with leather seats) after a long day at work in the summer. Does a black top absorb more heat? (Yes, I know, the HT should not be on in the summer...but still....)

Don't have black exactly but my Dark Charcoal is pretty dark. Saying that with the hardtop on and the Jeep completely closed up, it got pretty hot.

But once I got the summer top on (Bikini, windjammer, and duster) where it could breath, it didn't get very hot at all

Thanks for the honest responses. I wonder if a painted black/dark top does a better job of reflecting heat than the flat black top?

Either way.....I'm curious to see BFG. If it is a "slick" enough color....I may go with it since it is almost black (or so they say)....but not quite. I think a black hard-top would look OK on it...and with the money saved (over a painted top)...I could maybe do a soft top in the spring/summer/fall. That way it is really easy to cool it off in a hurry.

Keeping it cool is also why I only want saddle interior.
My Jeep is dark beige/khaki with a tan interior...while my Acura is red with black interior. The Acura is a LOT hotter in the summer time....and I'm not a big fan of AC unless it is really humid...or I'm stuck in tie or something.

The engine bay in my 3.8 gets brutally hot. I even feel it in performance- no joke.
I feel the black hood as a lot to do with it. Next summer I am going to consider a AEV heat reduction hood. Either that or I've seen new hoods for sale
and I could attempt installing louvers. I'm going to assume the 3.6 is not going to have that problem.

You can't go wrong. Have you ever heard of the following being a bad choice:

-Black Lincoln
-Black Rolls Royce
-Black Ferrari
-Black Corvette
-Black Cadillac
-Black Porsche
-Black Harley
-Black Model-T (well that was the only choice)
-Black at a Funeral
-Little black dress
-Jack Black
-Black Sabbath
-Black Ops
-Back in Black
-Black humor
-Fading to Black

You're in good company. No worries.
