I'm back. T-minus one month until my lease expires. Last questions before purchase!

I don't know if any of you remember me, but about 6 months ago I had *a lot* of questions.

Luckily I've done a lot of traveling and I have a fresh mind. Luckily again, I still want a Wrangler (4dr).

I still have the following dilemma: Sport S vs Sahara.

I *will* change my tires to Duratracs.
I *will* put new rims on. The black ones with stars in the middle. I think those are rockstars? Not sure what brand but will find.
I will upgrade my stereo but how fast depends on if I get Sahara vs Sport S.
My other dilemma is leather vs cloth seats, with me leaning on getting a car cover that supports side air bags (gotta have safety).

Anything I haven't mentioned that I'd be losing between choosing a S over Sahara? Something about noise reduction in the hood? Doubt that matters much?

Thanks - what would you do?

If only those mods, go with the Sport. If you need an upgrade that only Sahara offers, go with that. What does a Sahara offer that you want that a Sport doesn't offer?

Sport S.

1. Why put seat covers over leather (only available on Sahara or rubicon)
2. Your getting charged more for the Sahara rims and tires which your switching out anyways.
3. Doesn't sound like you want painted too or flares (popular reason to get Sahara)
4. Stereo upgrade is the same on either Sahara doesn't get special stereo components unless you get the navi and infinity system (premium sound available on sport s)

Only difference between Sahara and sport s is the rims/tires, painted pieces, Saharas get better shocks (not worth the extra few thousands, set of ranchos are like 300-400$), and the ability to order more option pieces (leather, heated seats, etc...). If you don't want the painted parts and leather there is no point to get a Sahara and Waste the money. FYI painted top and flares IMO are horrible ideas as the flares get scratched often and freedom panels/top when taken off will get scratched at one point.

And yes they are rockstars by XD they come in 17" now I believe to as well as 18" and 20".

Yeah I want to get those flat fender I think they're called Bushwackers? So that doesn't matter to me much, the painted flares that is.

Good point bringing that up. Thanks. Yeah, I want to get a new headunit and completely new sound system as well. Another point for Sport S.

I suppose the only real factor is the seats but if I want leather later I suppose I could get khatskin?

Thank you, I was wondering about the shocks but if they aren't worth that much then yeah I can do that aftermarket too. Awesome, thanks again!

No problem if you really wanted the shocks you can pick up rubicon shocks on Craigslist brand new for like $100. And you can get leather later on too. Bushwackers yes those are them. Metalcloak makes a flat fender too and they look real good

Is there a reason I should wait until 2014 model? June is end of 2013 isn't it?

There is no reason why you should wait. Get a 13 and be happy with it.

There's never a reason to wait, until they actually release the next model year and you figure out what you missed. Lol. Katskinz are awesome. That's what I have. I love em. Speaking of which, I need to put some lotion on them. Later!

i wish I would have got leather. I decided against it because I figured to have the top down as much as I can so I didnt want to get burned by the seats. However after 2 months i regret that choice. The seats holds so much dust keeping them clean is a real PITA.

I would wait for the 8 speed transmission if buying new. I think I read that it was coming, maybe a 2014 model which if true is just a few more months.

There are a few more differences between a Sport S and a Sahara. But if you plan on changing wheels and fenders, along with seat covers....get the Sport S.

Also, if you really, really want to do it right. Get the Sport S, and DON'T get the premium audio (unless you want to 8" enclosure in the rear). Start with the base stereo, and tear it all out.

If I regret the cloth / seat covers I can always get katskin aftermarket right? That's a decent choice?

8 speed tranny isn't coming to Wrangler in 2014... that's for sure otherwise they would've announced that at car show.

Ok one more question: if I get connectivity package and install my own radio is it a waste? I wanted the usb ports more than anything and leather wrapped wheel :-p.

I have a Sahara. Would have gotten a Sport, but the wife had to have the nav and leather. As others have said, if those are the mods you're starting with, get the Sport.

The only reason I can think of to wait for 2014's, is to see what new colors there are.

Oh ok. I want black so that's easy then.

I have a question re: tread lightly. Which one do I buy to get discount?

https://treadlightly.thankyou4caring...e.aspx?pid=340

I keep reading $75 but I don't see that option. And 3 years, but also don't see that option. Help?

Dammit, I have a few buying questions. Sorry!

1) I remember reading about 2% financing somewhere on this board. Anyone know off hand?

2) Should I buy extended warranty through dealer? It's like $2k-3k? Tips?

3) Any other purchasing tips for a relative noob?

No warranty, use a credit union to finance, walk Away a few times if the money isn't right. I'm not kidding literally walk away over a few hundred dollars. They need to sell the car to you. You do not to buy from them

Going a tad OT, but staying in line with the topic....

I had no idea about the Tread Lightly thing. Upon further research, and looking at a list of companies that qualify or are part of the Chrysler Affiliate Rewards program, my work is on the list (First Data). I had no idea such a thing even existed....

Chrysler Affiliate Rewards Program - Joe Usry Auto Group

Maybe I just don't get it, but 1% off of $32,000 MSRP doesn't seem like much of a discount. Or am I reading things wrong?

If you are interested in a Warranty, they are negotiable just like anything else. You can also wait for a sale. We walked in on a Sunday and found that for some reason the dealership was open. Turned out they were having a sale on everything that day, including warranties. We went in and got a Lifetime Warranty for $1300.

You can get the extended warranty on the official jeep.com site. You can go there to price it. The price I got on the website was less than the dealer offered (by about 40%), but the dealer matched it when I showed them.

OOoooh! /bonk

Thanks guys!

Heading to the dealer in an hour to look at a Billet Oscar Mike. Have about 6 of them within 10 miles of me, so I'll see how things work out.

Trading in a 1979 CJ5 with less than 43k miles on her, and a 2003 Toyota Celica with 83k miles on her.

Sounds like a Sport would be perfect for you then.

How much did it cost you? I can't look at prices now because I don't have a Jeep yet!

I found the loan company I was talking about:

https://www.penfed.org/Auto-Loans-Overview/

1.74 APR - is this too good to be true? I thought some people here may have used it.

Put in a VIN from a dealer site for one similar to what you want. That's what I did. I don't remember what I paid and there are many, many options on time and distance as well.
