At 48, this is my first jeep, a 2015 JKUS. I traded in my 13 F150 as my DD.

- I love this thing. Love driving it. I make excuses to drive places......and it is stock!!

- The wave. I wave to all wranglers that I can. I understand that some only wave to other heavily modded wranglers. Come on!! I have splash mats, grab handles, and a rear tire cover on the way!

- MPG. Not as bad as I expected. I have averaged 19 + going to work and back.

- Capability. I don't plan on being off road, but still uncertain of the stock capabilities. I have watched videos, but time and experience will help.

- This forum. I am absolutely embarrassed by the amount of time I have spent on here in the last month.

- Hard top vs soft top. I have the hard top only and have wished almost everyday that I had a soft top. I will get one next spring.

- Money. Man, this is going to cost me.

- Tires and wheels. Gonna stay stock for now, but I have looked at every wheel tire combo on the entire internet.

I'm with you....got our new JK Sport on Aug 1.
Love driving it (when the Missus lets me), not miserable about the gas mileage at all, and I've matted, grab-handled, and tire covered already too! (not mention seat covers, CB, hood-lock, and rear seat retainer)
We will and have taken it off road, but the rock crawl isn't my intention. Surprised how well the Sport and it's highly disregarded but best-selling 3.21 axles/street tires have performed thus far.
And lastly for me, it's nice to (once again) drive a domestic. Last one I owned was a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer.
Enjoy that rig and throw me a wave if you see me coming!

Congrats! Our experiences mirror one another. I'm at 3 weeks on my first JUKR, and love every second in it. Already bought barricade sliders, a tow hitch, and mopar splash mats. Going to be ordering a Gobi stealth rack soon. I have no desire to take the whole top off or for a soft top. I've always loved the look of the hard tops, and removing the freedom tops are plenty for me. I will have to go doorless soon though as that's just cool as hell. Probably front two doors only.

Congrats on the new Jeep! Welcome!

I don't usually get any less than 18mpg and I do a fair mix of city/highway. How fast are you driving? Constantly driving above 70 or 75 is going to bring you down. Cruise control is great and will give you an increase in fuel economy. Then again, I drive a 15 Sahara Unlimited with 3.21 gearing. If you've got the 4.10 then that's not helping. But hey, at least you have a rubicon!

I'm on my fifth Jeep. I just bought a new 2015 unlimited Rubicon for my 50th birthday. My first was a 58 Willys CJ3b. I traded my most resent Jeep a 97 lifted TJ for the Rubicon. I really like the JKUR. It rides really nice. The TJ rode like a covered wagon. I'm fighting the urge for a mild lift. Maybe 2 inches.

Just got mine in mid July. At 49, I'm kind of sorry I waited so long. Replaced my 2003 Ford Ranger. Not my daily driver, my girlfriends on the weekdays and mine on the weekend. Got the soft top. If I had a place to store it I would have gotten the Hard Top and aftermarket soft top.

closing in on 70 and my 5th Jeep. Hoping to find a deal on a '70th anniversary' model.

There just ain't enny way to have more fun with yer clothes on, than a Jeep......

First Jeep since late 90's. 4th I've owned. First was a '68 CJ-5 3 speed (which was just awesome at the time in south Florida as a teen-ager.
Love my new 2015 Rubicon! I also make excuses to run errands and do each separately.
I wave to as many Wranglers as I see (while not shifting).

Instead of waiting til spring for a soft top, you might consider keeping an eye on the classified forums here, craigslist, etc. You might stumble into a pretty cheap one as the cold weather approaches and folks start popping on the hard tops.

The Sport that I have has the higher gearing than a rubicon.... Which is what I wanted as mine is my daily driver. If I get stuck in the wrangler, I've done something real wrong!

I love it for my drive. With the top down it's a whole lot like cruising than commuting! :iamhappy:

- I love this thing. Love driving it. I make excuses to drive places......and it is stock!!
--> Wait til you lift it (see answer #4 below) then you'll want to sleep in it!

- The wave. I wave to all wranglers that I can. I understand that some only wave to other heavily modded wranglers. Come on!! I have splash mats, grab handles, and a rear tire cover on the way!
--> Keep waving and keep modding it. Someone will wave back ultimately!

- MPG. Not as bad as I expected. I have averaged 19 + going to work and back.
--> But you didn't really buy it for the gas mileage, did you? Trust me, someday you'll be glad to get 16!

- Capability. I don't plan on being off road, but still uncertain of the stock capabilities. I have watched videos, but time and experience will help.
--> Try it offroad. Start easy. If anything so you can really appreciate what it can do. Then you'll be a true Jeeper and will want to lift it, etc.

- This forum. I am absolutely embarrassed by the amount of time I have spent on here in the last month.
--> It's a gateway drug. It leads to bankruptcy.

- Hard top vs soft top. I have the hard top only and have wished almost everyday that I had a soft top. I will get one next spring.
--> Do it!

- Money. Man, this is going to cost me.
--> Yes it will. See answer above.

- Tires and wheels. Gonna stay stock for now, but I have looked at every wheel tire combo on the entire internet.
--> Take it offroad as-is. Then decide what's best for you.

I bought my first Jeep last year at 51. Kept it mostly stock for a while. See my build threat in my sig to see what happened next.

Congrats on the Jeep! I went to a sports car after my JKU and came right back! This is honestly the best vehicle on the planet.
