In the market for '11. First time owner.

I won't be using it for too much wheeling, besides taking it out to the beach every chance I get. It will be more of a daily driver. What are the pros and cons for the wrangler/unlimited. I can't decide which u want, obviously the 4dr had more space... But what about the ride. Is ones ride smoother than the other?? Gas mileage? Overall I like the look of the unlimited, but the look comes with a price, I could settle for the 2dr if I save a few k's? Any input? Also I'm looking to get a sahara hard top. ( if that were to make a difference). Thanks

I love my 2010 JK Unlimited. It's got a ton of room--especially when you fold the back seats down. Also, the unlimited has the 60/40 fold flat seats, so you can fold down 1, 2, or all 3 seats. The unlimited seats 5, and the 2-door only seats 4. I hear the 2-door is tough to get into the back seat, and I know there isn't much cargo room. It definitely depends on how often you need to transport people/cargo, and how many/much of each.

Please don't get the matching top.

I like the four door. My son is now 15 so no small children. I do get out and about and lots of times with peoples in the jeep. Having 4 doors makes peoples transporting a snap, especially when the peoples has to get in and out as in dropping folks off at there house(s). So, for me, four doors was a good choice. I don't see this changing any time soon.

Invoice

the invoice was 37400. I included all options available. Including leather, navigation, dual top, two tone interior, side air bags, tow package, heated seats and a few other options. I ordered about 6 weeks ago. I sold a 98 tj that I loved but was hard to haul the kids. So we didn't drive it a lot. We take trips to Colorado every year with friends so can't wait. I'll post some pics when I get it.

You want us to tell you what you like?

Well I dont like the 4 door.

Get the 2 door. And get the Sahara matching top. All White.

Easy. But I would hate hate hate buying a 2011, when 2012 will have 80 more Horses.

Sweet Dreams

Wow that's sounds beautiful. A little pricey , but awesome. I would love to stay in the 30/31 range but it's hard when there is so many add-ons I feel I "need".

You sound very sure of yourself that next years will have 80 more hp. How do u KnOw this? As I said earlier I am new to jeep but have been reading alot lately about them. Seems alot of people thought this jeep (the '11) was going to be get beefed up with Hp too, before the specs came out. If what u say is true and not hear say, I too would hate buying an 11 just for the 12 to be so much more powerful .

While the 2011 Wranglers do show major changes to the interiors (some like it.. some hate it) and some different exterior color options, as far as the powertrain.. well that's staying the same (at least for the first batch of 2011 Wranglers).

As for when (or if) the engine will change in the future.. well I guess that's anybody's guess

It is hearsay. That doesn't mean the new engine will not be in the 2012, but it is not a given. There is nothing wrong with the 3.8.

Just my little 'ol 2 pennies here, but that seems like the best scenario ever to buy a vehicle... you get all the gremlins in the interior where it isn't anything critical, and a time tested and "debugged" drivetrain...

Engines are like Microsoft Windows OS... the kids who "gotta have it" new are the ones who get to complain for a year or two about it and then a "service pack" comes out with all the fixes...

Exactly what I'm thinking! - with the 5th model year of the JK (2011), you'd hope they have most of the kinks ironed out.. but once the replace the powertrain.. you're kind of starting all over again.

My dealer loaned me a rubicon for two days and I thought the engine was fine. I didn't buy it for highway use, just for around town and jeep trips. I had a 2.5 jeep with 33's and it was a little week on the highway so it will be a large improvement. Mine will be black. I have a cat that might have to move the first time she climbs on it in the garage. Yeah the loaded jeeps get expensive but I have bought stripped down vehicles before and never really liked them because of that. Loaded vehicles cost more but hold there value better if you take care of them.

The 4door will ride a littler smoother than the 2dr, It will absorb some of the bumps and potholes a little better due to the longer wheelbase.
