Smile Inexpensive Winch Options

Hiya!

I am looking to install a winch on my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport 2-Door. I have a stock bumper and I am not sure what my options are for installing a winch. Any inexpensive advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Michael J Titera

My advice is only $35, which is pretty inexpensive for how smart I am. Paypal will be fine. PM me for payment info.

Cheapest options will be a winch plate and winch. Should run you $400+

For a JK I would probably go with a 10,000lb winch since they are so damn heavy.

The smittybilt xrc series are great little winches and can by had for a few hundred dollars. I have had warn winches in the past and now haft a xrc it has been issue free and I would buy another one over a warn.

All you need at the bare minimum is an 8k for a 2dr. I run a badlands 9k and love it. I've never had an issue. I've had it for over a year in lovely Cleveland weather and I tend to use it a little more frequently than I'd like.

spend the extra money and get a warn. my smittybilt has been rebuilt 3 times and it still won't work right. I was on a budget and got an xrc 8, what a mistake

If you want cheap go to Harbor Freight. If you want it to work and last you may want to throw some coin.

I'd look at the Barricade 9500#.

Barricade 9500lb Wrangler Winch J100204 (87-14 Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK) - Free Shipping

Or $900+ for a Warn...

10k Engo on a Rough Country winch plate. Being used here to winch a fallen tree out of the way:

I used that setup for two years, until I eventually got rid of the factory bumper. Kept the winch. Those Engo winches are tough, with a lot of pull. Priced right from dealers like Rockridge 4wd, a sponsor here.

I do believe he asked inexpensive winch options. Sure you can spend the money and get a warn. But how do you justify spending 500+ when you may use it 3 times a year. You trust a doctor who wasn't taught in America to treat your children right?

To be fare. I've used a winch 3 times in one day. I have a tendency to get stuck.

So, the only guy who was CRITICAL of you has 184 posts????? Ignore him.....

Engo will do.... Superwinch will do.....EL Cheapo from HF will do..... even a WARN will break......

Your budget should determine WHAT you use and HOW MUCH you use it.... and WHERE you use it...... just don't go writing checks your equipment cannot cash........

Rockridge set me up with my Engo 10,000 synthetic line winch and the mounting plate for the stock bumper two years ago. I don't recall the price, but it was a good deal. The winch & plate are strong.

I've been quite happy with my Runva 11XP (11,000 lb) and Rough Country Hybrid stubby bumper. The winch was ~$500, bumper a little under $300.

I've had no problems with my Rugged Ridge 8500. I bought mine locally for $299 with a free winch cover.
