Inexpesive Mods

I am looking for some cheap upgrades that can help improve the look of my jeep. One of the things I plan to do is the grill inserts but I just cant seem to find a thread where people agree on a reliable way to get it done. If you know how to do the inserts where they won't fall off please fill me in.

Also, if you have any ideas for inexpensive mods please feel free to share. Pics appreciated!

Skip the grill inserts. Take the grill off ( easy to do ) and put some wire mesh behind it. I have 2 layers of mesh and a layer of fly screen. Cheap and easy way of stopping bugs and crap getting into your radiator. You can also paint it.

There are plenty of threads about the grill inserts. Its real easy to do after a trip to Lowes. Get some gutter guards, zip ties and some strong glue. I also painted mine black.

-Grab handles
-Quad. Floor mats
-Short Antenna
- If you like the blacked out look you can always plastic-dip your stock wheels.
-Tint the windows

I think my favorite mod so far was replacing the headlights. The stock ones are crap.

Freebie... pull your rear view mirror down, rotate it 180, and push it up to the top and adjust... opens up the view a lot.

I keep reading about increased visibility and keep wondering if it is for front or rear visibility. I guess I could go turn my mirror and see for myself.

Dunkin, I looked into a head light replacement and the one people talked about was and LED kit. Cost was around $500.00, seems crazy for me to spend that kind of money on lights. Do you know of a less expensive kit?

Or put gas in and call it a mod , right up there with grab handles and floor mats but still under flip your mirror mod

If you really want to do cheap stuff then play around with plasti dip

Plasti dipping is really not a mod , but at least it takes so effort and maybe a tool

I got the truck-lite LED headlights and I believe they are $500. There might be other options but I bit the bullet and just got what I wanted. So look around the board and use the search. You might find something cheaper.

I bought truck lites, and they are great. I did the grill inserts like that, and I thought it was great, but I had several come off. And I did use epoxy. That's kinda disappointing. I'll probably just try to reattach with more epoxy. I put on rock guards, too. That wasn't too expensive. I tried the stubby antenna, but I got very poor reception. I went with a pretty short one that looked good. Maybe I'll try a longer one.

Front... only way to fix the rear is to remove the back set head rests...

I guess I'm too short to see it's a problem then.

It's not cheap, but my favorite mod thus far is still upgrading the headlights to LED's. If I have to strip every other mod from the Jeep, the headlights would be the last item I'd keep on there. The most functional mod to date!

Rugged Ridge Gloss Black Mesh Grille Insert $45 from Amazon.com. This is the one that has two bars behind it to hold it in. Pretty easy to install and looks great, you don't have to worry about it coming loose. You have to drill 4 holes but it's not difficult. It like it over the do-it-yourself screen because it's contoured to fit in the openings instead of just flat.

The cheapest way to make your jeep stand out is dip your wheels. I spent about 50.00 and dipped my stock wheels and interior trim. Have to watch the money right now. Here are the pics. I have some Rampage side step to dip and put on yet.
