Infinity System

Looking to upgrade from the 130 radio. Everything is asking if the Jeep has the Infinity System or not. How can I tell? I looked at the build sheet, but nothing states Infinity.

Thoughts?

Mine said Infinity on the window sticker and I also have the subwoofer so they'd be good things to look for.

I do have the subwoofer on the rear passenger side, behind the back seat.

I appreciate the responses.

I'd be careful by just changing the subwoofer as those "amplifiers" put into the factory systems are very weak. Overload it and it's gone. If wanting to upgrade the sub, also upgrade the amplifier too. I stand behind JL Audio amps/subs. They've never steered me wrong. If wanting to not spend that much for JL, Alpine amps and subs are decent for the money.

X2 with the sub/amp thing. I've done ample research on this and just switching out the sub won't do you any good stock amp doesn't push enough power. Because all the speakers are powered from the amp if you do a new amp it would cause you to replace the entire system. And if you go the stand alone amp route for the sub why keep the 8 inch or even the stock head unit. If you simply want better sound. The best bang for your buck option is poly fill the stock box and the roll bar speaker box, its hollow. Replace the speakers in the roll cage and the dash. I left the stock tweeters. Night and day difference.

If you want more power, it is probably better to start with a non-premium (Infintiy/Alpine) system. Then add your own HU, amps, and sub.

With the premium system, you know have to work around (actually down stream of) the stupid factory amp.

Speaking from experience it's not worth messing with upgrading the sub on the Infinity system. If I went all the way back I would upgrade to Polk DB651 coaxial a in the sound bar for about $60 and call it a day. I pieced mine together starting with the sub, added an amp for the sub, then swapped the soundbar first, dash next, put an amp on those, and it still sucked!!!

I was so pissed I ripped it all out and did what I should have done to start, pioneer AVH-P8400 HU, JL C3 in the front and soundbar, JL Stealthbox, and a JL 900/5 to push it. Now it sounds good, but even after all this it's still a Jeep. The soundbar is still the weakest link so I'm going to pull those and have the entire inside fiber glasses to give it strength.

Do the Polks and call it a day unless you want to do major surgery!

The infinity amp only pushes like 20 some watts per speaker and like 50 to the sub. You essentially have to gut the whole system to improve it.

Yup, I wish I would have went Polks (I did Kickers), but basically....either upgrade the speakers and call it a day (I also added polyfil).....or rip the entire system out start over.

Where on earth do you get these Polk speakers (that are supposed to be good) for $60?
