I occasionally throw a bottle of Lucas upper cylinder and injector cleaner. Maybe every 8-10 fills. I find it good and cheap. Anyone have experience with this stuff

Agreed. I use it to flush for every oil change also.

I use Lucas pretty regularly, but also toss a can of Seafoam in now and then. Both help to offset the negative effects of the ethanol in the gas these days.

I use this at my shop. You want a petroleum base product. Specially if you add it to the gas tank. Because you want it to mix with the gas & absorb the moist in there & have it all go out together. Ones that aren't petroleum base ether just settle at the bottom or floats on the top & really doesn't do anything.

Read the info on the bottle & it will tell you if it is or not.

But when I was in the mazda forums. All of them live by this stuff. Vehicle running rough, idles like crap, etc etc etc. Use seafoam on it & BAM! The beast is running normal.

I Haven't had any issues with it...yet...& hope I don't. If you use the booster line to suck it in. You don't want it to suck it in fast. It should take about 15-20 min for this process to be completed & you need to keep the RPMs between 1500-2000. It helps a lot if you have a container that does this job for you. With the tool, should be like 3 drops, stop, 3 drops, stop. In a bit of a fast pace. You do it by hand. Have it suck a little bit at a time.

If smoke is coming out of the exhaust, it's not really working then. You are just flooding the vehicle & the stuff is not doing what it should be doing.

I recommend every 20k-30k to do this along with cleaning the throttle body.

Whenever I have purchased a new to me (used) vehicle I put a can of BG 44k in the tank and let it work.

At every other LOF on my vehicles I dump a can of Chevron Techron in the tank as a preventive/maintenance routine.

The 44k is awesome, I was sold on it a few years ago when I was tuning up a neighbor's daughters car. It was running a little rough while I was checking things out and I noticed the injector was not spraying a nice circle pattern (it was a throttle body injected GM). I bought a can of 44k to dump in it. I had changed the plugs, wires and tested the rest of the ignition and fuel system and everything checked out. While I was running the car and checking the timing it started to smooth out and I noticed that the injector was spraying a nice uniform pattern. All of this took place in about 10-15 minutes of the car idling in the shop, not even driving it. Over the next half hour and maybe 10 miles it ran even better.

I have been sold on the stuff ever since. It is a little pricey that is why I don't use it all of the time but if you are experiencing any kind of rough or irregular idle that you think may be from the fuel system it is well worth the $22.00 a can.

Mike.
